Toyota Previa

I recently was told that Previas have a design flaw where the brushings on the auxiliary drive shaft will tear through and cause the drive shaft to come off and spin out. The mechanic said this is seen at higher mileage cars but can happen at a range between 60,000 miles to 200,000 miles. I have found another posting to this effect on the internet. Wondering if others have had this problem and warning owners to have regular safety checks done. Cost of repair is around $700 for models after 1994 and $1200 for 1993 and earlier. Toyota has manufactured a replacement kit but will not cover this flaw in their warranty and has not done a recall.
