Hi Guys,

Can any of you help me with a guide to fitting a new radio to my 2001 corolla 1.4 vvti. This topic has probably been done loads but I dont feel brave enough to get started on it yet.

Is there a blanking plate available if I take the digital display out the dashboard. I am really lost on this one.

It should be no problem at all. You can get a replacement facia and ISO wiring adaptors from Halfords or autoleads for around £14 each.

I have never removed an original stereo from one of these corollas, but like with many Jap cars, you will need to take the centre console apart. The actual head units should be bolted into place behind the existing plastic facia.

If you don't have instructions on removing the centre console in your owners handbook, there may be something usefull in in the audio or workshop submisions sections of the site - sorry I haven't checked...

As far as I know, there isnt any blanking plates available for our car. We would need to use a pre facelift pod and customise it for a pocket I think. You could put a new headunit into a prefacelift pod but this would require a little wiring knowledge I think. Otherwise, replace your existing head unit with a new one, straight swap, wires are already there and all you need is a set of connectors as System~G said.

This may help you a little, especially with disassembling the dash....

...it is difficult at first but gets a lot easier when youve done it a few times!

Hope this helps in some way!
