i need some help guys,

ive bought a aftermarket water temperature guage off eBay,

newcarpics008.jpg

an it has no instructions it has 3 wires out of the back... a live and earth for the illumination, and 1 big black wire...

im guessing the black wire has to go to the temperature sender? yes or no?

if so where is it in my engine bay? i had a quick look earlier but couldn't see it.

any help would be great!!

cheers,

Rich.

i'm not 100% sure i'd have to double check but i think its on the right hand side(passenger side) of the engine on the side of the block where the thermostat is...

green plug and a blue plug one of those two...!!??

hope this helps

The red and black wires is for the light in the gauge.

What's at the end of the big black wire? can you take a picture of it.

cheers guys. i got it in the car yesterday, wired it up as i found out which one the sender was... and... on closer inspection, its a capillary tube one!!!!!!! not an electrical one.

great.

now i gotta find some where to connect that up to!

any suggestions??

Rich.

in capilliary tube do you mean as the temperature rises, the fluid passes up a small tube (capillary action?!)

I was under the impression that all the modern ones worked on thermistors

yep.

thats what i thought!

probably wouldnt have bought it if i'd known!

This is a cunning idea but may work,

Could you not splice the sender wire on the back of the coolant temp in the instrument cluster? This will give you a feed for your water temp sensor!

ive found out its a tube rather than a wire now, cheers for the imput tho mate! :)

i may sell it an get a different 1. cant be ars*d with all the hassle!!!
