Hi hope someone can help.

Yesterday after taking my car out, after about 20 minutes i had a strange problem.

the harder i tried to accelerate the more the car tried to brake. I pulled over immediately.

I left it for 10 mins then tried to start -

it would turn over but would not start.

took the ht lead that goes from the ht coil to the dizzy but no spark.

ive tried a new ht coil - problem still the same.

after trying for a few minutres again i cant smell fuel

does anyone have any clues cos im stuck.

thanx in advance . shuggs

just checked at the fuel pump and no volts for the pump. blue/black +ve, white/black -ve

also when the fault started the Battery, oil and ! lights came on

have you run out of fuel?

It could be the fuel pump but I'm no expert. The lights coming on, on the dash indicate that the engine stalled, it was then trying to start as you tried to accelerate which would cause it to slow down.

Could be a blockage in a pipe? But probably the fuel pump or whatever manages it as there is no voltage.

Seeing as it probably can't get any worse, try disconnecting the Battery for 30 mins, then reconnect and see if it works

Turned out to be a 2 sticky relays and a blown fuse.

heres how i diagnosed the fault.

1. checked at fuel pump - no voltage.

2. checked at circuit opening relay no input or output voltage.

3. checked at efi relay no input or output voltage.

4. fuse 24 had blown in the engine compartment fuse box.

5. Now got input volts on pin 5, none on pin 3 - gave it a tap - now got o/p

6. rechecked C/O relay now got input volts no o/p - tap it

presto all is fixed and working.

now ive got a spare ht coil that was wrongly diagnosed by my supposed recovery person.
