Down Pipe, Much Difference?

Recommended Posts

i've knocked my cat through, to make it a de cat pipe. but just wondered would this make any difference?

and would a professional one make any difference?

The stock cat has a very poor turbo elbow, which reduces air flow efficiency as it is... so gutting it will not improve this.

The cat, even with innards knocked out, is very heavy.

You may need the cat when it comes back to MOT time!!!

The Aussie downpipe has been designed with improved turbo elbow, for the wastegate, and optimum airflow in general. You can't match this with a gutted cat.

I'm not sure what power/torque gains you'll get by just gutting your stock cat, but it won't be anywhere near as much as an aftermarket pipe made purely for one reason.

There are many, many threads on de-catting... I suggest you maybe look them up using the search feature at the top of the screen for more info, as what you need to know may very well have been covered already...
