Hi guys im new to the boards just wondering if any of you guys (experts) out there could give me a few points in the right direction and some information if possible about UK spec supra's.

Where at all would i be able to find a UK Spec Supra? And where all the UK specs Manual Transmissions?

Ive noticed alot are jap imports but ive also found a few uk spec with VERY HIGH mileages, i was wondering if any of you know what it would be like refurbising the engine and giving it a complete overhaul so its back to as new as possible, is it possible? what effects would it have?

Also your opinions on this would be appreciated

Hi,

There were no aerotops made for the UK. I believe they did make them for our neigbours across in Europe though.

The Auto box was an option, however by reading about the effort required to use the 6-speed manual, you'll find that many decided to cruise in the Auto and hence chose the auto option. Manuals are extremely difficult to come by.

Seen as the UK spec was only made uptil 96 and the car essentially being a GT, they will come with high mileage. One of the main things to check is smoke on startup, however I know Rash has sold at least half-a-dozen of these cars, so see no reason for you not to trust his judgement. If it wasn't worth it, I doubt Rash would have bought it to sell on. His reputation would be at stake.

Common problems with these is valve-stem seals which need to be replaced, but this would depend on how the car had been treated. Look at it this way, the stock engine 2jz-gte is modified to 600-700bhp before being opened and bored etc. It's running at half it's capacity.

The UK spec also has steel turbo blades, and all the extras come as standard. There's also discrepancy on wether it is just aircon or climate-control aswell. I know I can set the temperature and the car controls the fan speed, air direction itself, which does suggest the latter. I paid the same price for my Storm blue auto with about 6k more on the clock 6 months ago and boy was it worth every penny.

Hi mate,

firstly I wouldn't let mileage be the be all and end all - these cars are now 10/11 years old most have been used as daily drivers so for cars to have 90/100/120k is average mileage -

Providing they have been serviced properly and allowed to warm up/cool down they should be fine.

I have owned enough to know that driving a 60k UK Supra TT and a 120K UK Supra their is HONESTLY no difference in performance/drive... quite the opposite to what you may think but most people consider them with 100k just run in!!

Not too sure about rebuild engines etc... but i do know this if you after a UK manual with LOW miles you will be looking for quite a while and you will have to be quick on off the mark if ever their is one advertised as they tend to sell str8 away.

I sold a UK Manual TT for £12,500 within hours of it going in the Autotrader.

You will however pay quite a premium for a manual over an auto as they more sought after - i prefer the Auto's myself....

With regards to pricing I sold (a couple of weeks ago) an L-reg UK Supra done 60k for £9750-Cash... so an N-reg done 89k is a good price IMHO at £9750 - and Black is extremely rare in UK's..........

Cheers

Rash

p.s. I mean check out the For Sale section on the Forums....
