hi, i am going to reset my ecu in the morning. my question is do i have to turn engine off before pulling fuse out?

is this right

1. warm car up by driving

2. stop engine

3. pull out fuse

4. step on brake 3 times.

5.put fuse back in

6. start up engine again.

thanks podge :)

sure is mate, you could just disconnect the earth from Battery if its any easier.

Will removing the earth strap reset the E.C.U alone Maleborn?

I mean without having to press pedles, do a morris dance and sacrifice a lamb?

the pressing the brake pedal is just to take out any charge left in the car (the brake lights drain the charge)...

and taking off the earth wont do it - youd need to remove the live connection...

Don't disconnect the Battery - it'll b*gger your alarm (as Lord Ed will tell you).

And do it warm so the engine is at operating temp .. makes the initial running in process quicker with a warm engine.

I pull the EF and EFI fuses out the engine bay fuse box. Mine is a rev2 and others will be different.

You can say that again!...

I have tried all the stuff above and still no joy... we (bibbs 'n i) came to the conclusion that the Rev 3 is different...

You should get a rough idle at startup... IF it has worked..

pull back the boot lining .. pull out the three blocks at the bottom of the ECU ..

Then leave it 5 mins and plug it back in ..

rough idle is sometimes apparent .. othertimes it's harder to notice ..

I blip the throttle and then it'll usually hunt about 600 rpm.
