I belive that you should have the same engine as me - the 7AFE. I also belive the fault codes are found the same way.

You do not need to buy anything to read them - Everything is built into the car.

Do a bit of a search in the Celica Forum as I am sure this has been discussed many times.

From memory it goes something like this:

Switch Ignition On,

Find the Data Link Connector (next to front suspension top rhs)

bridge terminals E1 and TE1 with a paper clip

Get in car and watch the warning lamp flash

If it flashes twice per second then there are no faults

Otherwise count the flashes,

example:

Two 0.5 second Flashes, 1.5 second pause, one 0.5 second flash, 2.5 second pause, two 0.5 second flashes, 1.5 second pause, two 0.5 second flashes

That would be error 21 and 22

the first lot of flashes give you the twenty, the 1.5 second pause tells you it's finished with the tens unit, the next flash gives you the 1 (from 21) then the 2.5 second pause tells you it's going to the next code. Then the next one follows the same format.

at the end there is a 4.5 second pause then it starts again.

Find the fault codes then post them back here and somebody will help you

Ok, my memory ran out and I went to find some info, but some of it came from my head!! :D
