Hi All

I have just a quick question and I was wondering if anyone can help.

I have a 1990 Mk3 Supra it has done 92000 miles at the moment. I am currently driving over 600 miles a week in the car and I am alittle concerned the amout of oil it is consuming. I filling the engine to max on the dip stick and by the end of the week it is down to min mark. So it using something like 1ltr of oil a week. Whick I think it seems alot to me. Please could anyone advise if this is a supra trade mark or is it the start of the head gasket being on it's way out?

Please advise

Many Thanks

Hmmm I missed this post.

First thing, oil consumption is NOTHING to do with the headgasket being "on its way out"

Heads gaskets are fine or blown, there is no middle ground so if its not blown consider it ok.

Check for obvious oil leaks (Cam covers, oil cooler pipes, and front and rear can seals)

Is there any smoke? is it mainly on start up? (check stem seals) Is the turbo any good? -A knackered turbo

Failing that it could be rings or excessive breathing... I had a Rebuilt supra that ran Blueprint stem seals (to be avoided at all costs) they failed totally after a few month and it used a similar amount of oil... but with very obvious smoke on start up!
