Harris appears to have a bit of a Rubber Fetish and cant decide what to wear.

At the monent Harris has one Dunlop Sport 01

one Dunlop Sport 9000

and two Kleber Dynaxer

So, what should Harris wear to the S&M ball?

What ios the best out of these treads?

Also

What is the best rubber about for the the standard 15" Rims?

Toyo Proxes T1-S or T1-R in 195/45 R15. Envy do a really good price on the T1-R's! I got all mine in that size for £160!

Link up the top for Envy btw! :D

Cheers Ryan,

i have never heard of them tyres before though. Are they a good tyre?

Are they better than the rubber on it already?

I have just been looking and Dunlop do the Sport 9000 in a 195/40, i think that would look nice.

AFAIK you can't get a 40 profile for a 15" rim!

I think they tyres are the most favoured wet weather tyre in the driving community probably and fair quite welll in the dry aswell!

Another option is Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's, I have heard they are very good but not so wallet frinedly!

I have the standard fit Bridgestone Potenza RE040 185/55/15, V speed rating.

Also a standard fit on the Audi TT, BMW Z8 and Mercedes

£62.50.

No problems so far, and with the wider type tread pattern, I’ve noticed I don’t get the annoying stones stuck in the tread.

They stick to the road like sticky stuff in a sticky contest on a hot sticky day

Ryan,

i dont know what "AFAIK" means. You cant get a 40 profile for the 15" Rim, i miss read it, it is a 45. Go onto Dunlop Website and have a look at the Sport 9000 family. They are well nice.

I have been reading the reviews of this tyre and people say it handles amazingly in dry conditions and out performs everything in the wet. The only down side is they only last 20 to 25k.

I dont have a price for them yet though.

Standard fitment on TVR'S and Mitsibishi evo's to name but 2.

So 'm sure they will be ok on your Yaris.

Just out of interest.. Kleber Dynaxer Tyres are made by Michelin

I had 195/50x15 Toyo T1-s on mine (car not lowered)

i have toyo's there great in a 45 profile your SR will have 195.50.15 as standard you could put smaller tyres on as in 45 profiles like i an ryan have done, but there dearer, 195.50 should be fine contact kev at envy for a top rprice on them ive never had anyone beat him on prices for owt!

Sorry about a 2nd post.. no-one can possibly know how many miles anyone can get from any tyre.. too many things come into it..

1 Driving conditions

2 road surfaces

3 driving styles

4 car setup (tracking etc

5 front or rear tyres (you go through front tyres quicker than rears in most cases

6 and many more.. see pack for details

Anyone who say's that a tyre will last x amount of miles is talking bull.. there is no way to tell.. except in laboritory conditions.. and yes of course.. we all drive in a lab.

Yokos are the best for wet ryan, they just dont last very long!

And you can get profile 40.....ph34r.gif

I agree that Yoko's are excellent for grip.. but beleive me .. the Toyo's are every bit as good.. like s*** to a blanket... but.. in my opinion Toyo's are better because the last longer ( in lab conditions of course :P)

And in 15 years of fitting Tyres.. i have neverseen a 40 series tyre on a 15"" rim ( maybe a specialist fitment.. not saying they don't excist but not very common at all and no doubt expensive).

EDIT: useless info time..

Tyre sizes are worked out as follows...

195/50x15..

195 mm in width.. 50 = 50% of the width (195 divided by 50%) = 97.5mm.. 15 = 15" rim

Standard sizes on Yaris.

155/80x13 = a sidewall height of 124mm

175/65x14 = sidewall height of 113.75mm

195/50x15 = 97.5mm << this is the closest rolling radius to the standard size for 15".. these will keep your gearing/ speed ratio's more or less the same .

The dunlops are on my car and they are a brilliant tyre... 1st set lasted 18,000 miles, 2nd set went on and the grip was increased sooo much... change em before they are too bald!! The SP9000's are a brilliant tyre... stick with them! Also, if you change the profile, the ride will be harsher!

Seveer,

what do you mean when you say dont change the profile?

Do you mean to another tyre, or is there a few different profiles in the 9000 range?

Glad you like them on yours, as we have the same cars and (as we live so close) the same weather. Lol

Only prob is Harris has only got one 9000, one Sport 01 and a pair of Kleber Dynaxer on the back.

I think the tyres need rotating as well, so will have the Dynaxer on the front after this weekend.

The profile is the 50, 45, 40 etc bit.... the lower that is, the harsher the ride. 50 is a good balance. Im not sure if there is a different profile in the 9000 range, but if there is, i think 50 would still suit it best.

TVOR... standard size on SR is 195/50/ZR15. Better than standard T-Sport!! (que evil laugh!)

Right, i see.

There is a lower 9000 available, 45, but someone said there is a 40 available, but not what tyre it is.

So its down to the amount of air cushioning the ride then.

I would only change the profile if Gem would let me drop the car, but she wont, so i wont.

Someone suggested on one of my posts, that the SR is the early version of T-Sport. What would you say to that?

It was me that said the SR is the earlier version of the T-Sport, so i say it is! It was the sports model between 1999 and 2002. The T-Sport came in in 2001 i believe, so for 2 years the SR was the sportiest model in the range.... it is also fitted with quite a few items the T-Sport isn't... like the lowering springs and if it's a pre-2002 model a TTE sports exhaust! (I missed out... grrr!! although that problems solved now!!)

Well before the T-Sport was released in 2001 the top model Yaris you could get was the 1.3 SR. Thats why it came with nice alloys, tte spoiler, tte exhaust and tte lowering springs. Then they kept production of the SR from 2001 to late 2002 all the same but replacing the tte exhaust with a chrome tailpipe. After that they did a facelift of the Yaris in which the SR (or equivaltent) was removed from the range.

As for tyres i have the Dunlop 9000's on mine aswell and they are very good in the dry and find they are ok in the wet, but not the greatest. As for profile, i would prefer to go for the 50's as this is just acceptable .. any lower and the ride will be too harsh and road noise will be too much in my opinion.

Also does anyone know if you can fit slightly wider tyres on your standard wheels? As someone mentioned fitting 205 on standard wheels which are normally 195.

Cheers

Now,

by lowering springs, do you mean it is already lowered, or it has adjustable springs that i could lower further.

Funny you say that, cos i've just been reading a "How To" on fitting lowering springs to a T-Sport and looked at the finished article, only to think, our SR is that low already.

The standard alloys are sooooooooooooooooooooo nice.

Sat watching Off Road on Home & Leisure, it looks great fun. Glad i dont have to work tommorrow, just noticed the time.

Nut,

i wanted to know if you could fit wider tyres as well. Will look Beefier and be safer. I worry about the GF when she is driving.

Funny you say the tyres are only ok in the wet, as i have read so many reviews on the tyres and everone says they excel in the wet.

I mean the SR already has lowering springs fitted as standard but they are not adjustable though. And yes you are right the SR is the lowest Yaris as standard as it is lowered 30mm already, where as the T-Sport is only 20mm lower than any other normal Yaris, but thats because of its chassis. So if you lower a T-Sport by 30mm then it will effectively be 50mm lower than a normal Yaris and 20mm lower than a SR.

Yup the wheels are lovely arent they!? :D
