Yep Stu oh well :(

I noticed alot of oil around the ring of the turbo, a few pools of oil under neath the turbo

and abit of play in the turbo bearing.. couldnt get a good enough look at the blades though.

Its been a good turbo though 10 years old

Things going down hill now dad went to check on car

on his way through and apparantly the turbo is off

and he doesnt see anything wrong with it , the engine

is almost completely apart and still the belts have to be done!

If it isnt the turbo ive just spent £500 on a new turbo

because thats what other people told me it was

especially turbo TECHNICS :ffs:

I just hope it was the old turbo and nothing

much worse

edit : if the turbo Seals are gone would this also cause turbo failure?

Was there a lot of oil in the inlet/intercooler pipes? That's a sure fire way to tell if the seals are gone.

In the intercooler pipes was oil around the inside like put your finger in

and it will end up on your finger, my dad says the engine is fine

The whole center spindal of the turbo you can hold it and move it from side to side much more than you can the new one

check to make sure that no blades have broken off and gone through the engine. seen this a few times on std ct turbos.

The inlet Fan of the turbo can be moved from side to side by holding the center piece of the fan and it makes a squeek sound.

The fan on the other side makes a slight click sound and sometimes squeeks

when turned

The bottom end of the turbo on the inlet side is Covered in oil

Bad news!!! I know the squeaking noise.... when it half heartedly spools up it sounds almost like a siren! I have both go at once on my TT when a boost hose fell off causing the engine (and therefore the turbos oil supply) to die :crybaby: had 17 years service and were fine untill then!

Turbo technics are a very good firm to deal with!!!! I think my CT-26 on my sngle turbo is due soon... how much did they quote you?

alot more than i expected, i got £495 nearly £500!! for a single entry turbo

but mines a twin entry hence £595 , you get a nice piece of paper saying

you get a surcharge of £250 for your old turbo which makes you think

your getting the original price dropped. BUT NO this surcharge was already

added in the price :ffs: :ffs:

fing garage, car is still in parts still not done 3 days later

and the guy doing it is moaning about it , THEN WHY

OFFER TO DO THE WORK THEN!!! W**KERS

Took 3 days just got a phone call that its finished belts changed and new turbo fitted and guess what they said

They got it upto 3000rpm and the car is very juddery

wtf is going on, and i cant get to see whats up with it

till tomorrow

Edit : had a further speak with them apparantly the turbo

does sound like its going round and there the BOV is working

as it was not doing that before, also the turbo is only going up

to 0BAR as the boost controller was set to the bare minimum

This make sense?? , the other turbo would shoot up to 0.5 bar

how ever low the boost controller was set too.

I think the best thing is me picking it up tomorrow

as i know my own car and see whats up with it then report here,

fancy them finishing it just before it closes
