Recieved the magazine today with a preliminary look at the new Yaris. All the pictures are of the RS, in a bright lime green.

The report states:

Engines which will be Avaliable:

1.0 71BHP

1.3 87BHP

1.5 110BHP producing 141Nm of torque at 4,400rpm.

1.4 Diesel along with a four-speed automatic.

The Yaris comes with larger brakes with EBD and ABS as standard.

Boot space has increased from 205litres to 274 litres.

The main rivals are considered to be the Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 Sport (5-Dr) and the Ford Fiesta 1.6 Ghia.

Specs for the 1.5 Top Spec RS are as follows:

1.5litre 4cyl 110BHP

0-60 in 9.0sec

TOp Speed of 118mph.

Price at an estimated £13,000

Finally the overall opinion

"THE Yaris has grown up. It's bigger more practical but hasn't lost any of its character that makes it so popular. The looks may take some getting used to but the important thing is the car has been improved without loosing its key appeal."

Its on sale in September,

So the RS looks like the same engine spec as the current T-Sport.

Not sure if I’m keen on it being bigger, one appeal of the Yaris is its size.

They didn't mention anything to do with the 4WD option either.

Seen the back of it, looks pretty much the same as the current TS. But the lights are most corolla shaped and the reversing/brake lights are both red and alot cloer to the edges of the bodywork. Otherwise looks very similar.

'side and curtain bags will be available as options'

That's a Ford trick..... Pay extra for equipment that should be standard

For one time only, I will have to agree with you (but it would be the phase 2 in my case)

Thought i like it in the original pics a few weeks back but i'm suprised this is the range topper. It all looks a bit boring and standard. I hate to think what the base models look like

hate the colour

love the interior!

I can see too many ‘other cars’ in it  Micra, Focus and it has a J-Lo a$$...... BIG!

No mention of a UK sport version

They will do that RS version. Its exactly the same as the TS, same engine spec, performance etc near enough. No mention of the styling kits either.

Looks like a few cars, I like it, but I do prefere what we have at the moment.

Not much room for mods in there either!

I think it would be near impossible to put a strut brace on or any type of after market filter or Induction Kit etc...

And you think bulbs are hard to replace NOW?

I still don't like it. :crybaby:

However, I would be interested in seeing a 3 door RS. As a 5 Door it reminds me of a mish mash of several cars. Micra + Corolla + A3 + Golf = A mess :(

If the RS was black and more beefy (agressive front & wheels) then maybe I'd change my mind. The interior looks a bit cheap too.

Lol. Looking on the bright side now chappers.

Aye, but a front bumper will cost you if it get damaged.. They incorporated the grille, fogs and it goes all the way up the front to meet the bonnet..

Again, looks nice tho..

Give me a 1.5 T Sport 3 Door Manual and it's a deal..

Same here! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

And more boot space is a good thing IMO - the current boot is tiny - you cant swing a cat in there (I know, I've tried! :D )
