Hi guys and gals,

Thanks so far everyone, for helping me regarding fitting my aftermarket headunit esp seveer uneak. One more querie:

Ok ive got the aftermarket fascia from toyota to fit my aftermarket headunit.

I have got my jbl 300watt 6x9's

And Halfords rav4 iso lead.

Questions are:

my panasonic headunit has 2 pre outs, what do these look like and how do i go about fitting to my headunit, theres just wires coming from 6x9's at moment.

The 4 standard Speakers in the front of my yaris, ow do i go about connecting those to my aftermarket headunit - do i need any other conectors or out, any wiring info would be helpful.

Lastly do i need a cage thing to hold in the aftermarket headunit into the aftermarket fascia i bought from toyota?

after this i should finally be ready to fit!

regards p.s im such a dummy

You should have..

Fascia Surround: For Phase 1 or 2

Double Din Unit - FP-11-03, made by Audioleads

ISO lead: PC2-17-4 (toyota one)......

And your HU..?

2 Red and 2 White 'plug' holes at the back of the unit..

The ISO lead (you should've bought!) will connect the HeadUnit to the cars original harness..

Lastly do i need a cage thing to hold in the aftermarket headunit into the aftermarket fascia i bought from toyota?

The fascia from Mr T is purely cosmetic.. Just clip it on afterwards..

im such a dummy

Not at all.. :D

Double din unit thought i only need a single din unit?, im getting rid of standard stereo and using aftermarket fasica and headunit.

Also i got a rav4 iso lead from Halfords - thought this would do?

Yup, Halfrauds, although your Rav 4 may do..

not sure about the code on the iso lead - its a rav 4 one?, not sure about code should it be PC2-17-4?

That's the code.. The Rav 4 may work, look at the block and the block of the cars loom, if the pins and wires match up.. use it

And thats all i need?

Yup

thanks chappers

Right, you should've gone into/called your Toyota dealer and asked for the follwing (dependant on phase of course)..

Fascia Surround: T55406-52010-B0 is for the Phase 1 (roughly £38)

Fascia Surround: T55406-52041-B0 is for the Phase 2 (roughly £38)

Then made a trip to Halfrauds to get both

Din Unit Adapter- FP-11-03, made by Audioleads, it says for a RAV4

and

ISO lead: PC2-17-4 (toyota one)...... (which you have)

You need all of the above..

Then it's just like Mechano - slotting and fitting it together

Why does everyone hate the coin box trick?

I don't think it looks tacky at all!!!!!! And its about £50 cheaper than buying all those surrounds and DIN adapters!

WWW.DICTIONARY.COM says...

shab·by ( P ) Pronunciation Key (shb)

adj. shab·bi·er, shab·bi·est

1.

a. Showing signs of wear and tear; threadbare or worn-out: shabby furniture.

b. Dilapidated or deteriorated in condition, especially through neglect; seedy: a shabby little park.

2. Wearing threadbare clothing.

3.

a. Despicable; mean: a shabby trick.

b. Not generous or just; unfair: shabby treatment.

c. Of mediocre or substandard quality: a shabby performance.

"Shabby" is a little harsh.

It looks fine, its at hand height when your hand is on the shift lever and its tidy... Not to mention stable because its bolted into the DIN frame rather than sitting in a suspension cage.

Also, its harder to remove the radio from a theft point of view - thus security wise its a sound installation method.

So there's my opinion on my """""Shabby""""" radio install.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that you still have all the original radio controls by the LCD that do nowt too - Have you got a surround for that?????????????????

Sorry..

Meant 'Shoddy'

WWW.DICTIONARY.COM says...

adj. shod·di·er, shod·di·est

1. Made of or containing inferior material.

2

a. Of poor quality or craft.

b. Rundown; shabby.

3. Dishonest or reprehensible: shoddy business practices.

4. Conspicuously and cheaply imitative

..................

It was harsh, but I originally had my Headunit installed this way ages ago and was not happy and this is how I felt..

The way mine is installed, it is clipped to the Din surround, which in-turn is screw into the cars *body*.. Both ways are secure

No Problem! Sorry to be fastidious over this, as a cheaper alternative to buying all the surround and DIN kit, it ain't that bad an installation method, to be fair!

What i meant was, if you put the removal keys in my headunit as it is, it does nothing as its bolted in from the sides, but if you put the keys in yours (Assuming it has them?) then it will just pop out because its using the original suspension cage, am i right? If i am wrong as wrong can be then fair enough!

I'm compulsive, things have to be straight or in their proper place, or completely symmetrical etc with me or it really, really gets to me, and it doesn't bother me being there, but maybe thats because it's prefectly straight... Who knows

Umm, not sure.. Will have to check that..

Which is exactly why I couldn't live with 'half finished' - 'half attempt' - 'not quite' but 'almost' - 'it'll do' 'wasn't meant to go there, but thats all I have'. Then when I came accross the adapters etc, I just had to get them and do it properly..

Never guess wot Chappers...

Went to Yota today, picked up my fascia, only to discover it's a phase one fascia adapter!

Will have to exchange it for a phase 2 now. Oh well!

Can't do much, as my local Halfrauds has run out of the ISO adapters, so can't get one just yet - hopefully 2moz.

And another thing - wot the hell is a double din unit?!??!

Cheers!

Chappers - I've just got a Sony CDXS2000 simple CD player.

I presume mine doesn't require one then?

I will be in the future, but if you have trouble at toyota i'll take it off you in a couple of weeks. And you'll need the Din unit adaptor to fit your sony unit, or it's not going to fit! If i'm not mistaken...
