Do You Use Led's?

In the biking world, things like rear lights get replaced with an LED, becuase they are brighter, last longer and are only about £20 for the most of it.

Anyone use LED's in their rear lights?

(Obviously bar the LED light at the top of the rear screen!)

Will have to check the bulbs, but are they bayonet fittings in the Yaris?

There are NO LED's on the Yaris... that includes the higher brake light. They are all bayonet fittings. As far as im aware, LED's don't work very well in the Yaris as they are too small in the rear light clusters... and an LED light conversion is serious money!

Hmm...

Will see how well my bike ones fit in them at the weekend and let you know.

If they're standard bayonett fittings, that is.

What's the problem with them being too small - is that the fitting perspective??

Cheers

Ahhh, I see.

Let me know if you want any details. You can't miss them in bike shops, etc - they're all over the place!

The link I posted above, the seller is a company called Streetfighter Store, up Preston way. Good ol' boys. Could always talk to him, as he's usually getting good deals on them.

If you do get a GB setup, give us a shout, as I'll have sum!

(They're also the non road-legal spinning ones, which flash when you brake!)

Cheers

  • 2 weeks later...

they are crap, there is a slight blue glow, on a amber filter it makes you indicators go green

on a yaris it make you indicators flash too fast

and they are not brights, sent £200 worth back

Not sure whether we're talking about the same thing vmail.

What I'm talking about are replcement bulbs.

Standard bulbs are "such and such" a wattage, with a bayonett fitting.

You can buy LED bulbs, like in the link i posted above, to replace your brakelight bulbs, with an LED one.

Interesting idea as well tho Crisis.

I will have to take a look, and let you know how I get on.

Re: the indicators flashing too fast, it's because you need to add a resistor in between the bulb and the loom, to help slow down the current.

Ha ha!!! :D

Just had a look at that website, which is splashed all over that car, and at the current exchange rate, those lights are about £230.

You could buy the LED's individually, wire them up, and attach them to a backing plate tho, and give the same effect.

Hmmm... Will have to talk to my electrically qualified friends on that one...

I would buy those lights for that price. Well worth it, but noone can get them. Dont think we can import them had a huge topic on it a few months ago.

Think it would have to be ordered straight from Japan, so nasty shipping and tax charges could await!

GB would be an idea, but I wouldn't have the money for it now, so I wouldn't be able to do it I'm afraid.

Will prob have a go at changing the standard lights for now as well.
