so because im toying with the idea of buying a mk4 i decided to do a tesco insurance quote online today.

everywhere i look people seem to say that a jap spec is so much more to insure, so my quote may surprise?

im 32, full, protected no claims, comprehensive, with a non fault accident in 2003. no endorsements.

uk twin turbo manual, or auto (i did both) £880 or £858 without legal, or £917 by not having a voluntary £150 excess on top of their compulsory £250.

but get this....

exactly the same for jap twin turbo manual and auto!

is this a good price as it stands, and does it seem normal that uk and jap are the same?

i quoted the rz jap variant i think - defo the twin turbo anyway.

Thats good news I guess....

Insurance companies are finally seeing sense!!!

bad news for UK owners as one of thier advantages that makes their cars worth more has just gone down the plughole!!!

Only thing is I have found some online quotes unreliable as they often don't ask for enough information.

I'm with Lifesure 34, 4 years ncb, no points for £420 fc. I guess it would be more for a turbo.

Maleborn, who are you insured with? That is an excellent price for a GT4.

If you are over 25 they charge the same for an Import as they do for a UK car, been the same for me with Elephant & Tesco's.

Good luck getting one

Indeed, im only 22 so that was the main reason for getting a UK car for me  But its also nice to have the extra UK spec goodies, especially if your looking to tune. Stock components on a UK engine are great for BPU++, then you also have the rarity of the UK cars
