this happed to me a couple of months back and my car is now ok due to me.

right... my car developed a fault in wich it would start but it soon cut out, and somtimes it would drive ok and the it would stop and wouldnt start again, so i got in touch with my local toyota dealer and they booked me in so i amediatly had the car towed up to them, they told me they would have a mechanic look at it and tell me within the week what was wrong and how much to put it right, i told them the symptoms and said i thought that it may have something to do with the fuel pump.

so i phoned them 9 days later to see if there was any developments with the car, i was told that they were very busy and havent had time to look at it yet, i was kinda p*ssed at them but i didnt show it, he told me to call them in another 4 days and they would have a answer, so this is what i did... he then told me that they had an auto electrician looking at it as we speek, little did i know at the time they had took the car to neil harrods (auto electrition) in pieces, because they didnt know how to put it back together, i know this because my brothers wifes farther works for niel harrods and he told me this, so neil harrods put the car back together and gave it back to toyota, toyota then phoned me up saying they havent found the fault but they say that the work that they have already done needs paying for £430,

so i told them not to bother doing anything else as they have just wasted my time and money, i went up to see the manager and he explained that they had checked the wiring and couldnt find a problem with it and he thinks its the fuel pump, i said i told you that at the begining that i think its the fuel pump (cnut), so i ended up paying them £430 and a total of 3 weeks for them to tell me that they think its the fuel pump, and this is what i told them to start with.

i changed the fuel pump and the pump carridge at home for £150 and it is now fine, i have learned my lesson the hard way, and incidently the offending garrage has now closed (TOSS*RS).

thats my rant over with.. im going for a cuppa.....oooooohhhh the stress

Sounds to me like you had a good case not to pay there.

Why don't you get in touch with Toyota UK and take it up with them. You could also try your local trading standards and see what they have to say.

Mind you if the garage is now shut you are probably too late.

I went to Mr T on Sunday to pick up some parts which I had ordered and apid for on Thursday and arranged to pick up on Sunday. When I got there they made me pay for them a second time before I could have them as they had no record of payment. It took my 2 hours this morning to get a refund for the second payment.

Not on your scale but a phrase including the term **** and elbow does spring to mind.

It really isn't worth taking a car to Toyota if it's not under warranty. There are plenty of independant specialists who do a first rate job at half the price....AND their livelihood depends on customer satisfaction.

I only use Toyota for spare parts and so far I can't fault my local parts dept.

yeah like i said i learnt the hard way, i cannot believe that they took my car to pieces and could not put it back together  , man they made the car ffs, and then they have the cheek to slap neil harrods bill on top of what they say i owed them ( it said labour charge on invoice ) wich was the exact amount charged by neil harrods according to my source, i didnt ask them to take it to them, they screwed up and they new it and thought i wouldnt notice, i have heard that this garage was a particular bad branch of toyota so i cant speak for all the other toyota garages, so we live and learn, and i will only use them for parts now just like boro sera does.
