I prefer a bov that makes the chirp followed by the "shhh", does anyone know which blow-off valve/s make that noise? :P

Posted

the one you're looking for is a typical blow-off valve.

hmm, the ssqv is not the sound i thougght, the one im looking for is kinda like a " whirring " sound, a bit like undoing a screw really fast

Posted

Well the srew on the HKS unit can be ajusted for a kinda lomg Whistle or sharp Squeek  The tighter it is the shorter the noise ;)

Anyone selling a BOV? cash waiting

i think the sound you want riko is an external wastegate, the noise on escort cosworths or most turbo'd rally cars.its really hard to explain the noise but it sort of flutters really quickly.

Posted

if anyone's seen the jeremy clarkson video where he drives the bugatti eb110 gt, you'll know the sound!

whats the difference between em? do you need both or is it one or the other?

a wastegate explained

a bov explained.

as far as im aware you wouldnt need to use a bov aswell as a wastegate but i wouldnt think that there is anything stopping you if you wanted but most people prefer the wastegate chatter to a bov dumping.

Posted

you need a wastegate, most turbos have en built in, and if they dont you need to fit one. you will blow your tuebo to tiny pieces without one..

you dont technically need a bov, but again without one, youll wreck your turbo if you run higher boost.

in a nutshell. the wastegate protects the exaust side of things. and the bov protects the compressor side. they work as a pair.
