Well what can I say...

After a silly o'clock start and meeting up with Scot and Steve (Blue MR2) a quick blat down the A34 and along the M4 following a opentop bus full of Southhampton supporters (:P :P :P) we arrived at the petrol station and picked up Gus (sorry for driving straight past you Loz) and arrived on site just before 8am...

A quick trip into the drivers briefing and me and Scot were ready for the 9.26 run on track so not much time for an early look around.

At 9.10 me and Scot took to the pit lane with a friend in mine and Dan with Scot got ready for srcutineering as there was a 100db limit, I got through with 97db out of one pipe and 96db out of the other, Scot was registered at 94db so already to go out on track.

I was the first car out of the session with Scot holding back a bit as he forgot to tighten his seatbelt :) First time into The Esses and I managed a 720 degree spin :) which put my passengers confidence in me at an all time low !! But managed to drive away without the next car overtaking. Scot had a couple of spins and was very unlucky when on the final lap something put a 50p sized hole in his block so had to arrange a tow home :(

Back on the stand people were arriving in force, it was great to see everyone again and a chance to have a decent look around. The stands were no way near as good as expected and there were not as many heavily modified cars as I would have expected.

There were some great cars there, a load of Skylines, the Fast and the Furious Supra some amazing paint jobs to be seen and a mobile rolling road...

I was registered as having 153bhp at the flywheel (157 peak) and a stomping 191lbs/ft of torque, a bit disappointed about the bhp readout :(

I believe and IS went on the rolling road but have not heard as yet what the result was.

Time again for a second run on track with Zee as a passenger, better run but with damp conditions it wasn't that quick.

There were some monsters on track with only a couple of major crashes including an Evo whose brakes failed going into Quarry so he took out the front of the car....

Over all a great day, an awful lot of cars attended and definately worth the visit, just a shame the weather decided not to play ball, a few photo's were taken and will be sorted next week.....

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nice write up speedy. :P :D

Out of interest. What is the insurance stand is you wreck your motor doing this (as the Evo has). Do they say "p*** off" or is their some sort of special insurance cover.

Track insurance is extra thing you have to sort, but in my experience the phone goes dead and the policy shoots up in price as that nice lady on the other end of the phone realises that you intend to drive your 'properly' and not like a old woman! Oh and for any people wondering.....and the guy didnt have any! :crybaby: He was saying how his brakes failed at the end of a straight that in scots car we were hitting 110mph, so guess what the evo was doing

was a great day out! I have the Evo crashin on FILM!! :ffs: I was hoping for a few more moded motors though, hardly any GT4's + none of the st185's went on the track! The track needed some diff cars out there, there were a couple of Supra's all day, about 3 st205 GT4's, no Starlets hardly and MR2's, no FTO's(there were tons on the stands) It was a great day well worth going but could have been better! :crybaby:

I was in the GT4OC stand which was next to the TOC stand, I saw Ryan and his MR2, saw a few of ya beasts but I thought maybe a few more peeps would turn up!

They best car on the track for me was a !Removed! FORD!! :fear:Escort Cossie. He was drifting round Quarry every time, getting the back end right out! I have proof on film that it was RWD, when he lost control and span on the grass he wheel span off....which wheels span?? JUST THE BACK ONES!

There was another really fast Escort Cossie which was over 400bhp!! That was lightning! There was a Norris Designs Evo running at 700BHP!! which wasn't slow

Re: The fords.... On the track passes people got it very clearly stated that if you were not in a Jap car you wouldnot get on track, I wqs very annoyed to see non-jap markes go out as I there were some Jap marue owners who wished to get theit 2nd car on track but were told no because it wasn't Jap, seems like one rule for some and one for another !

Re: Insurance, it depends on who your insured with, I'll be changing to Dorset or AON this year as they offer free track day insurance and the premium is not increased that much (last year was £100 more). For the extra £100 a year, I would rather have the track insurance...

I agree, it was wrong to let out the Fords, + the Golf and the kit car! I would have asked for my £10 back but seeing as I got away without paying I thought that would be rude!! :group-cuddles:

With reference to Ryan's post mentioning the Fast and The Furious replica Supra (Orange) on the Total Car Audio stand at JapFest - the install was designed by my mate Paul from Car Electronics in Leicester. This is the sort of install they specialise in if anyone is looking for top notch installs.

I think the supra deserves it, but what is sad, theres one in the workshop at the moment, the guy is spending around the same amount in the install, but this is going into a pretty much standard old BMW 3 series estate worth less than 5k!

I read in Redline that Renton was taking his Sierra on track, must have known all along that non-jap cars were gonna be on track. Can't see the point in that myself but never mind... <_<
