That's all well and good, but you're missing the point...

WE CAN'T AFFORD, NOR DO WE WANT A FLAIMIN' REPLACEMENT ECU THAT COSTS OVER 2K  :ffs:  :ffs:

Aggreed :thumbsup::thumbsup:

but just had a quick look for AEM EMS and its like £2K everywhere, how can it be cheaper.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=7955732765 :D

dont exactly understand the 3D graph

RPM along the bottom, and intake manifold pressure up the near side...

These maps tell the injectors how much fuel to squirt in the engine at a paticular time, for example, if your map sensor is seeing 7psi at 4500rpm, it needs to know how much fuel needs to go into the combustion chamber to to ensure the right amount of fuel is mixing with the right amount of air - when you get not enough fuel going in, you run lean, when too much fuel is squirted in, you run rich.... etc etc

Once your running stoich (as in you have a decent AFR), then you're all good.

how can you re-map a stock ecu ??

Find which chip is holding the fuelling information, and modify it.

My current STANDARD Honda ECU currently has launch control, and a more aggressive fuel and ignition map.. all done by myself :D

HOW DO YOU RE-MAP ? <_<

Say i wanted to re-map my ecu - what do i need (for example sake...intrested now :P )

You're right about that, all you really really want is bragging rights, and the ability to say "Yeah I've got that Greddy management system"

Toyota spent an awful lot of money developing their engine management systems, don't think that you'll get "great gains" by buying a big name management system - if your current ECU is powering the car perfectly, then you've got bugger all gains to make.

I love this guy

...if only women were so easy to modify

Depends what chips etc are in your ECU, generally, you extract the information of the current fuel chip, desolder it , and solder in a new chip the the new fuelling information.

Remember - if it aint broke, don't fix it. If you dont really need a new engine management, DON'T buy it!

I dont want to BRAG. i want to maodify my engine, and ensure fuel and air mix and boost are all ok and not gonna cause any damage to my engine.

Like det

So with that in mind, all you'll need is an EEPROM programmer and a quick course in mapping fuel chips. Easy eh?

...it just gets better

Thats pretty much it.

If your finding this really funny, why are you thinking about buying a mappable unit for your car?

Prob for the same reason as me. :P

So it can be setup properly at a garage.

Cus i aint got a clue how to re-map a chip, also, iwouldnt really wanna be soldering in my stock ecu.

im not bothered about gaining an extra 1hp from altering my fuel.

I want one so that as i further mod my car (may be pistons / con rods / biger turbo / intercooler etc) and turn up the boost, i can map the fuel to match

...i give up.

anyway....

bounds.. whats your bro make of the emanage?? any good?

all i want is a decent solution to cure my cars healthy thirst for juice! its overfuelling a bit!

Hi Jaxx.

Yaeh, that got a bit involved didnt it mate, lol

Right, Yaeh he has had the unit fitted for about a month now.

1st he just ran with the boost controller (the profec e-01 part with the screen)

That was really easy to fit. dont really need much knowledge to get that in !

The hardest part is deciding where to put the screen ! we decided bang ontop of the dash, in the middle, just angled towards the driver

Another chap i know with it fitted (on a MK4 TT Supra) fitted his down below the stereo with the bracket screwed to the dash with the screen angled towards him. Just a coupel of ideas for ya !

Yeah, anyways, that was easy, and worked fine !

Got the ecu done one evening, not to hard either really - just make sure you are 100% confident for this part - you will be splicing into wires going to and from your ecu - dont wanna mess this bit up ! - not the end of the world if you dont get this done in one hit - remember its only a pickyback ecu, so you can still drive the car with it unplugged.

One part that needs to be done correct - some switches need setting inside the ecu before its plugged in with regards to some sensors - MAP, AFM etc (we asked at a garage to be sure here !)

Once the ecu was in, the car was taken down to Sumo to be mapped !

Job Done.

He is well happy with it, no probs yet, and more power. also resolved his over fueling problem. My mate down the road with the Supra is happy as well, and its on my shopping list.!!!

So no matter what was said in this thread, they are happy, and I am sure i will be, at the end of the day we dont need a £2K ecu do we!.

So yeah, it seams like a good investimemt - check out earlier in this thread for alink to a cheap site where my mates brough theres !!

cheers !!

Glad we got that sorted guys. It was just going round in circles.
