Hiya, i just signed up today and am up for introducing myself as a '92 Carina owner!

Have had it since the summer and its been hilarious!

Unfortunately the leccy sunroof is out of action due to some fault that the previous owner said would cost 300 quid to repair! And the odometer has stopped clockin up the miles. At all.

But it's been a fine car since the summer, it took my bro and i to Shetland and back for a coupla weeks with no probs!

I am interested to know performance figures for these cars, cos it feels to me like its quite fast! i have only the 1.6 16v and compared to the other cars ive had it feels very rapid - are they known for their performance?

I read that the 1.6 can have either 94 or 114bhp depending on something or other but i cant remember which!

Any info people can throw at me would be fantastic!

Hiya and welcome :D

The 1.6 are 106bhp as standard (according to parkers), but it all depends on what year it was made as well as other bits and bobs etc etc. Whatever though, you'll be around the 100bhp mark :)

I know of a few people with 1.6 who are more than happy with the performance results from them (as the 1.8 is a leanburn, it can make the 1.6 have better perfomance figures) :D

Theres a few guys around here and the owners club with 1.6s so you're in good company

I had a feeling that my car didnt have any less than 100bhp! :D

Am now lookin forward to talkin with you guys about how to slowly and frugally improve this long-lasting car!

lookin to start on the suspension, with maybe some lowering and stiffening. maybe a chassis brace, i dunno, depends on what people here know to work!
