Does the cab pre heater work on the british model of the avensis t4 4dw, i have tried it with the latest cold spell with no luck. The small quick user manual say not on british model, so why fit the switch.

ANY IDEAS THANKS Paul

And more importantly why on earth no in the UK. The issue of heating is a big problem for people driving diesels here in the UK. I understand the likes of BMW and others fit special pre-heating devices to their diesel models so that people can get into warm cars as opposed to waiting for diesels to warm up 50 miles later on.

are you sure it doesnt work?. mine seems to give out heat before the end of the road. blowers need to be on full, temperature set to high and auto off. oh and press the heater button in. i have a t3x though.

Hi!

D4D cars going to "colder areas" as Scandinavia are originally fitted with an Eberspaecher Hydronic system. Its an diesel fueled heater that warms the engine coolant. Its a simple system that will only run while the engine is running, but can be expandeed to a complete system. That means a timer operated heater that also can preheat the cabin.

The heater system in "warmer areas" as UK cars is based on reversing the AC, operated like matty2767 described.

With your excellent climate you dont need a proper heater, do you.........

Hi matty

i have a small blue 12 page book titled Avensis brief guide page 6 shows a drawing of the dashboard item 7 shows power heater switch**

bottom of page 6 ** not applicable to uk models

main owner's manual 221 222 223 224 describes how to use it

i did get out of bed this morning but still no heat for first mile and a bit which took me more tha 70 seconds to do which the manual says to warm up completely

original question why fit the switch (nice red light)

otherwise the car is very good

first time i have owned a TOYOTA very pleased

yep i have the same contradictions in my manuals. i am not a mechanic but if someone could look for the unit under the bonnet to clear the matter up once and for all. in the owners manual it shows you where it is

thanks
