Hi,

I'm about to buy a MR2 Mk2 vey soon just need to sell my escort, i've been looking at the import versions of the GT and the G Limited versions as well.

What I want to know is with the escort i had (MK6 Si) I could take parts off the Rs2000 MK6 like brakes, cams, throttle bodies etc and fit them on my car. Now what I wanted to know is if there's any higher spec MR2's that I could to same with? So I could buy a MR2 GTi UK Spec and fit better cams ect from another higher spec MR2 or is there other cars within the toyota range that i could use?

I know there several Engines like 174BHP one or that VVTI 200Bhp one but I can't afford the insurance on them, also turbo's is out the question as i'm under 21.

One last question did any UK Spec Cars have Air Con/Climate Control, as i've seen quite a few on auto trader and in the trade it saying Air con but do not say if they are inports or not.

Thanks

Paul

AC was a £1500 option on UK cars.

And the engines are the same as the Celica, with 3 versions.

FE - 121bhp economy engine

GE - 154-174bhp performance engine

GTE - 225-245bhp turbo

There are no other "better" cams etc .. on another MR2 model.

Hell the brakes can be swapped with Supra stuff, if you get mounts made up.

Believe me... a 154bhp NA is pretty damn quick in its own right!

Welcome to our world

The N/A engine should be quick enough for you to start with but you'll want turbo power later on.

I guess you can get Kent cams although I'm not a fan of them coz although they increase bhp they push the power band higher up so you have to rev even more.

If you want it for road use, then there's little point modding it as it will soon become unpractical.

It would be best to go for the rev 3+ N/A as this will be the 174 bhp engine revision. I very much doubt that insurance companies differentiate between this one and the older 158 bhp model. And the 174 bhp engine makes peak power at redline, so changing the cams would be pointless. Toyota did such a good job in the first place, that you will struggle to glean any more peak hp without making sacrifices.
