1991 3sge Cutting Out

Just done a head gasket on my car uk 1991 3sge and it ran ok for about a week!

Had to adjust the TPS as it was a bit jerky going on and off the throttle.

Went to start it this morning and a short burst of life and then nothing???

Managed to start it eventually but with no throttle as if it was just running on the cold start injector!

As soon as I touched the pedal the check engine light flashed on and the engine died and would not start at all and it does this every time I have tried it and I have checked for codes and no codes!

Any ideas??(Apart from getting a bomb proof HONDA)

:crybaby:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DO NOT GET A HONDA!!!!!!!

There are only 5 makes of Jap car and their quality is marked in the following order

Nissan (Sorry but it's true)

Toyota

Mitsubish

Mazda

Subaru

The rest are pants

Anyway to your problem. Could be that the fuel pump is not working? Have you ensured all wires are still connected to the starter motor solenoid? Have you checked the fuel pump itself to see if it is working or not? Does the car have fuel in it? This is not an insult but I have known people including myself run their duel level right down before doing the HG change and then not having enough left to start the car when it's completed. Are your HT leads all connected? In the correct order? Is your timing correct? Is your alternator connected and in the correct position? Does it have AFMs? I am unsure of this but if they do then that could be the problem. I've only just bought mine so haven't even looked to check on the AFM front but I think it does have one. That could easily cause this problem.

check that the tps has been put back on properly , there's a small spring inside which sits on a slot ,this controls revs on and off, its possible it was taken off during the head job.just a wild guess by the way.

Thanks for your help guys!

Lots of fuel and pressure there as I spun it over on the starter with the perol pipe off and it exploded out!!

Also there is a spark at the plug as I took one out and spun it over!!

I will have a go at setting the tps with a multimeter and see if it helps!

Will have to wait for the bad weather to pass.

Will let you know how it goes! :help:
