Ipod In Toyota Avensis

I think connect2 just need the id number on the head unit for this but I'd be interested to know how you get on because I'm thinking along the same lines.

The problem is I have already mailed them and they flatly say that there unit is only compatable with the 2003 avensis, hence my question about about the old type new type cd changer conversion lead.

Here are a few snaps of how I installed the Ipod in my car.  Works like a dream and is very inconspicious!  Let images fully load...

Hi Provi!

How did you that exactly? Can you control your ipod from the steering wheel controls?

A few people over at the german Avensis Board (http://14259.rapidforum.com/) are eagerly waiting for a working MP3 solution in the new Avensis

Cheers

I didn't actually fit it myself but rather I had it done by an installations company here in Chile. The purchased a connector in the US that goes between the HU and the iPod. That cost approx US$90 plus a further US$100 fitting fee. Don't ask me about connections and the like because I don't really know! I can't use the steering controls to move tracks but I can control volume. That's the drawback but it doesn't really bother me at all.

Good luck

Well, ProviGuy, can you at least tell us, what device that was. Was it a Connects2 Box, or something else. What do you select on the radio, when you want to listen to the IPod?

Maybe you can give me the Phone Number of the shop (if they understand my english or german that is :-)

I will try and find out for you but I have a feeling it might well have been a connect2 type of connector but it certainly wasn't the exact same thing because I can't change tracks as you can with the connect2.

Thank you. There is also an AUX-In Adapter apparently. I just ordered my Mini Ipod a couple of days ago. I also found a Carhifi Shop near me, who might be willing to try out a few configurations. But yours gave me hope, that there is a sollution.

So how do you change over to the ipod. those the radio "think" there is a CD Changer attached?

Just came across this gadget. Looks interesting.

Has anyone tried it?

http://www.hebestyling.com/idrive.html

It's apparently another FM Modulator thing, which sadly is not allowed in Austria/Germany (probably in UK too). The Signal get's send too the radio as FM Signal with more or less bad reception.

I'm still looking forward to a direct-connection sollution. I have my ipod now, but haven't gotten round to going to the hifi-shop.

Cheers

As I read it the thing works without broadcasting a signal to air - this makes it legal in the UK at least and the system is okayed by Apple. The modulator prevents interference from other stations on the iPod frequency.

My biggest worry was the price, especially fitted!

So, I got my Ipod Mini Connected just now.

More over at http://14259.rapidforum.com/topic=100578116071 (German!).

Basically you need the IceLink Pro and NOT connects2 but the AUX-In Adapter from maxxcount.de (around 65 Pound - 99 Euro).

I can now control the Ipod from the Steering Wheel Controls. I will add photos to that thread in the next few days.

Cheers
