Problem With Alloy Wheels

I purchased my car in March 2001 since then I have had 3 sets of alloy wheels all which have pitted, has anyone else had this problem I have been in deep discuss with Toyota GB Customer Relations and Dealer, I was told when first set of wheels replaced that there was a known fault which was suppost to have been rectified 3 years down the line same problem.

I would appreciate any response for fellow Celica drivers :(

Im guessing you got the sports pack wheels with the diamond cut finish in my honest opinion if they keep swapping your wheels for the same type u want to be sayin no thanks give me the T-sport wheels thankyou. as there are no issues with those wheels. Alternatively say to em each of the sports pack alloys are £140 each u get 5 of em plus another £120 quid for each of the Pirrelli P-zeros they put on em and you get a set of alloys costing nearly a Grand each time tell em to order so wheels from somewhere else and get some you really want i bet it will save em about 300 quid of the std Toyota ones they been doing for ya. Just a thought make sure theyre not just refurbing the wheel as if this is the case then it weakens the alloy and it will eventually buckle and break

My 7th gen celica has had three sets alloys since july 04 seems to me they are not fit for the purpose they were sold for,if toyota keep replacing said wheels then no case for trading standards to become involved, you do get a years warranty but does it start fresh again with a new set.

Good idea about upgrading to a set that has a good track record.will sugest this to mr t .

im getting mine replaced for the first time next week, my car is just comin up on 3 years old and its just been over winter that they have started to bubble slightly, at least its happened before the warranty has ran out. Has the problem with the alloys been fixed? or will the new ones just do it again eventually

It's a shame Toyota is having a bad time with their Celica alloys.... :crybaby:

If they replace a pair with a new pair then the 1 year warrenty has to start from scratch again. No quibbles there. It is a new pair - IPSO FACTO. :thumbsup:

I thought they had redressed the alloy problem though on newer cars and wheels. :blink:

Wheels are not covered by 1 years warranty as they were replaced within manufacturers 3 year warranty, and we did not pay anything towards these wheels they did not carry a warranty. Now with Trading Standards speaking to dealership, Shiels Toyota.

My car started alloywheel corrosion within the manufactures warranty period mr t replaced them within the warranty period i now have an extended two years manufactures warranty, for each set replaced you are entitled to a years cover as i was told by mr t, but it states in the toyota warranty book "quote"The toyota warranty is designed to cover any defect attributable to a manufacturing or assembly fault in bodywork,no mention of alloy wheels,is mr t trying to potray good customer relations,to my knowledge there is not an official recall for the wheels, anybody out their no any recall?

I got nowhere with MrT even though the MOT (done by MrT) stated 'corrosion on alloy wheels' before the 3yr warranty was up. Anybody got any advice on;

Alloy wheel refurb - South Yorkshire area

Problems with refurb - 'how long will the finish last?'

Costs per wheel (no kerbing damage - just bubbling)

Re Marthabass definitly keep your statement regarding alloys at mot, go back to mr t and state your case to the manager, if he decides not to replace write to the manufacturer or go to another dealership.

General Manager from dealership has called to say that they have found another style of wheel which can go on my car all I need to do now is go and check if we like this and hopefully we will not have to speak to Toyota again on this matter.

Thanks for all who responded.

:D
