Yes because its not just the engine temp that needs warming up, the oil temp does aswell the turbo doesnt want cold oil

I try not to use any boost at all untill the engine is registered as "fully warm" (i.e. needle half way up the guage)...

These days I temd to start the car first thing (before I even get in. then by the time you have faffed about with seatbelt opening gates etc the oil preasure is up nicely and its flowing properly!

The temp guase is not a good guide cause it's fairly pap (it'll read warm when it's not).

Give it a min of 5 mins, 10 is better before booting it.

Also check your plugs, leads and dizzy ..

yip... cars don't like to be booted when cold... tried it a few times... I'm just impatient.

"Jim needs a new turbo" .... lol... hopefully that thread will never appear!

I fitted an oil temp gauge for my guide.

Wait until 70-80oC before pushing her.

Anyway... when the cat is cold it will have a similar effect. Have you still got one fitted or has it been replaced with a downpipe?
