Hello Evrbody! Pls help me to choose a rear silencer! Wich one will give the greatest sound to my Paseo 1,5 5E-FHE? :D

Posted

anything less than a magnaflow will give a deafening horrible-sounding raspy glass-shattering tone. trust me. :hokus-pokus: experienced firsthand

What about Remus?

theyre a good company...apparently their mufflers give you a lower " bassier " sound, which is good. im getting one hopefully soon enough, they are a bit expensive though seeing as they are a reputable company (i.e. they actually race, and have done so for years, aint one of those *****ty ***** boyracer end cans which are made from a few coke cans)

they are a bit expensive though

c'mon Riko, tell the truth. they're VERY expensive

shhh, he doesn't know ;)

actually, I'm from Moscow and as far as I know shops do not offer remus mufflers designed for Paseo here. But from the other hand universal mufflers prices begin from 90$ and go up to 200 or smth/// I guess 150-200$-one would be a good choice!?<_< magnaflow mufflers ain't cheaper anyway.

true, but the sound is worth it trust me. I've had experiences with both styles of mufflers, i'd take my magnaflow over some straight-through can any day.. plus, paying a little more for something you can get is better than paying a lot more for something you can't get.

So, wich model of magnaflow should I look at?

Posted

mine is a simple straight flowing muffler with an offset tip. it's ovular with dimensions of i think 4x9x20 tip to tip. 2.5" inlet, 2.5" outlet with an adaptor welded on to the stock exhaust.

Posted

why dont you consider making a custom exaust with just a little backpressure? Mine's a freeflow custom made backbox and it makes a roar no lion can whistle :)

PM me I can fix you up with one. Pretty good quality too , and cheap.

Posted

there's a difference between a custom exhaust, and an aftermarket muffler. the whole exhaust requires new larger-bore tubing and mandrel bends (if you want a good one), but if you go much larger than stock, you lose all sorts of torque.

Posted

yeh, what dev said. not to just ignore what you say mario but sticking a backbox on the end of your exhaust will do very little if anything. if you want something worthwhile (for a paseo....powerwise) you go with slightly larger than stock bore the full length of the system + mandrel bends to maintain some backpressure whilst still provide a greater flow. and i think that by doing the whole system not only will it be slightly louder but "bassier" too as you are not squeezing air through a small tube then outuva huge hole (which makes the bee-like tinny sound)

and i dunno, i dont like " free flow " backboxes....on a car like the 'seo it'd just make it sound tinny and bee-like, perhaps since your car is turbocharged itll produced a different sound as the turbocharger itself actually acts as a muffler, quieting the sound and perhaps creating a different effect

Posted

that's a different story, if it's turbocharged, the turbo gives backpressure, you don't need to worry about it in the exhaust.

Posted

yeh i know, but i mean if you stick a " straight through " backbox on a turbo then its less likely you'll get the !Removed! / bee sound because the turbo provides some muffling (i.e. backpressure)

Posted

ah, i wasn't talking about the sound, merely the backpressure.
