Yaris 1,0 & 1,3 Difference

Hi

I been out looking for a new Yaris Terra 1,3. How can one see the difference between the 1,0 and the 1,3 model (2003-2004). As far as I can see the the two enginens looks the same. How can I tell which car I'm dealing with? The chassis number plate in the engine room? Or is there a stamp on the motorblock somewhere?

Thanks

Svenne

I believe the 1.0 Yaris has an engine with the code 1SZ-FE stamped on it, and the 1.3 yaris had 2NZ-FE on it.

Thanks

Do you know where that stamp supposed to be on the engineblock?

No way to tell it from the chassis number?

Seriously, do you have to put 'lol' at the front of your message and the end of it whether it's necessary or not?

Well he thought it was funny. Is a bit like laughing at your own jokes though, mate.

If you look on the VIN plate in the engine bay, the third or so line gives you the model code.

If it reads like SCP10x-xxxxxx it is the 1.0 liter.

If it reads like SCP13x-xxxxxx it is the new 1.3 liter.

If it reads like NCP10x-xxxxxx it is the old 1.3 liter.

Yves.

Now that makes it easy :-)

What's the difference between the old and the new 1,3? Something I should care about when bying it? I go for a 2003-2004 model.

They're based on a different design, but if as you say you go for a phase2 model you'll only get them with the new 1.3 anyways.

I've found that whilst looking at Yarii before deciding to go for a 1.3 Yaris Blue that the engine size is something which is usually well advertised when a car is being sold...I though that would be the case in most countries too?

Yes I know it's weird, isn't it? They don't even have a badge on the car giving the engine size.

Don't need one! They are all quick!

Yeah, even the 1.0 is good for what it is... However, i missed my 1.3 Wrath when i took my car into Mr T and got a 1.0 as a courtesy car!!!

Its very noticeable, the difference between the 2! Both in speed and fuel economy!!!

I'm getting my new 1.3 in about a week too :D altho Toyota say the actual difference in economy is only 4/5 miles per gallon.

Hey Blue. Sound like a race to see who'll get theirs first! Actually my dealer's got a date for 4th March then there's a day or two for them to prep it and remove the shrinkwrap! I'm hoping for a week today but will have to wait until I hear back from my dealer.

When's yours, er, due? :D

Well I heard from my dealer today..and mine is a pre-registered one which I have already test drove (yup test drove the actual one I'm getting)..it had done 17 miles when I left it!! I said to the guy that called me today that as I hadn't heard from them for a while can they call my house tomorrow, and leave the registration and "due date" with my Parents so I can get the insurance changed over for the due date..the reason why it's taking so long is they have had to order an air-con unit in and gotta install it too :) so we are both awaiting official dates :D:D:D
