My yaris is starting to sound like an old van... all of a sudden the engine is making a sort of ticking noise as the driving belt goes round the various cranks. I have no idea what this problem is but its making the engine sound terrible and old.... any ideas ANYONE?

Oh and i've checked my oil (i know thats random) but my oil's fine.

I used to feel like that about stuff - just get it back in and get it looked at. A red face is better than a big bill later on mate..

Has it been serviced regularly by Mr T?

If it has and it is still under warranty then get it back to them first thing Monday morning and get them to listen to it.

The brake sound might mean that the pads need replacing.

But if you have had it serviced regularly that would/should have been highlighted on the last service.

If it has not been serviced .................get your wallet out :(

I took my T3 to MrT, as one of the wheels was squeaking, and they cleaned the brake & also adjusted it as it was binding against the wheel slightly and it was covered under the warranty.

The noise could be the drive belt starting to give up....have you checked the tension and examined the inner edge for any cracks?

I had an issue with Mr T and their 'specialists' regarding my rear pads - took a while but got there in the end - make the sods work for a living. Your yaris costs a lot more than a comparable ford or vauxhall - get them earning it ...

... sorry dont know what came over me!

It doesn't stop it at all no.... BUT, it IS covered under warranty, so if you've got a squeeking noise... tell them you want it fixed. And if your engine sounds odd... tell them you want that fixed too! Im pretty damn sure they'll know what's up but won't tell you as it's cost tothem under warranty... make sure you get what you want!

New laws have been introduced to help consumers deal with the dealers (gangsta!) so that you can get what you want! When you paid for your car, you payed for your warranty which means your car will be free from defects within the first 3 years. ANY problems that don't seem right to you... get them checked, and under warranty... it's free!
