Reducing Engine Noise

Hello I've got a neat Yaris 1.0 T reg. :D

I would like to know if there is a way of improving the quietness of the cockpit.

As it can get noisy much noisier then most new cars I’ve been in, Clio 1.6, 206 GTI 180 2.0, 206 DTurbo 2.0

I know it's not a fault, it's just where it's an older car.

I was just wondering what could I do???? I would like to not, keep upping the volume on the CD player :help:

You could buy some sound deading material. I would recommend either Dynamat or Brown Bread but is it worth the hassle of installing it, I personally don't think so!

Anyway let us know mate!

Where do you apply it? to the under side of the bonnet????

Do you find your Yaris Loud? I've heard people say the yaris are quiet and I agree but only when they idle.

You're comparing your 1.0l VVTi car (which thrives on revs) to mucher higer specced cars, therefore the noise levels will seem much louder than they really are. Only noise problems iv had are at 85mph+ speeds (when im on my private track  )

It's just the revs being higher to keep the car thrifty on the motorway. Im afraid it's just something you'll have to put up with!

take the sound deadening out from under the bonnet then fill the holes in bonnet with expandable foam then replace the sound deadening will make a massive difference

I found that my 'road noise' dropped when I uprated the back box. Yes the back box is louder outside and with the windows open, but when closed its more of a hum than the original exhaust.

Also I've a carbon bonnet now and theres no difference in noise inside the cabin despite the fact that the oe bonnet had soundproofing and the carbon one doesnt

Does that help?
