Sitting in my Mk2 import, looking at the dash where it meets the windscreen, look left towards the corner of the window and there is a small black rectangle sticking up out of the dash like a smooth lego brick!

Me and my ex g/f decided its a sensor for the factory alarm.. does anyone know?

She has one on her car also.

Its just like a little 'nubb' that sticks up out of the top of the dash near the window.. cant think of anything that would be in its space because its so small.

I'm gonna have to take a pic of it now I just know it.

i often wondered myself.

i thought it would be a trickle charger for the Battery, but the climate control idea seems logical

but the sensor for the climate control is behind the dash, it isnt on uk cars so it may be summit to do with the jap radio, they have a system over there for relayin traffic information over a frequency not covered by radio (if that makes sense)

the two lines that go up the middle of the windscreen do that.

i like the idea of a trickle charger!

It's a light sensor for the climate control. It's purpose is to let the climate control ECU know if it's sunny/bright. The cabin of the two is so small that a bit of sunshine makes a hell of a difference, so if the ECU knows it's sunny it can boost the aircon.

The temperature sensor is quite low in the car (by your left knee, behind the little grille in the dash below the !Removed! lighter) so the top half of the car can get sweltering before the temp sensor notices the increase in temperature.

The two lines in the screen are the JDM AM radio antenna.

Thats what I love about these motors .. every day is a school day, for instance if you climb aboard a ford escort what questions could you possibly pose other than ' what the hell am I doing in a ford escort? ' :P

p.s. I honestly dont still own my 3i , honest I dont, honestly, its not still in my m8's garage at all ok

It's not on UK cars because UK cars never even got the option of Climate Control (only bog standard Air Conditioning).

And as someone else said, it's not an alarm sensor because Jap cars don't have alarms.
