In your dreams... As it's been said, it's a twin entry turbo, not a TWIN TURBO.

Look on the AutoTrader web site mate. There's loads of 'em.

hi ricey

just to clear up the confusion in a nice way :D there is no such thing as an mr2 twin turbo - im sure someone somewhere will have modded one this way but for the most part a lot of people including dealers often make this misconception.

the twin part is the air entry into the turbo, doubling the air volume and potentially improving the performance but is defo not a twin turbo.

still amazes me when dealers, or supposedly knowledgable people still say to me "that the twin turbo model" i just smile and say "yes"!

the 2 things you should be concerned with is is it a revision2, or higher. up to early 1994 you will have a turbo that puts out 225bhp as standard. post 1994 (late L reg, early M - onwards) you will have a 245bhp motor.

there's much more to say about this but this is a glossy and quick overview.

p.s there's often some for sale on here

There actually is such a thing as a Twin Turbo MR2... simply they don't come like that as stock. I've read up on a conversion etc. In the end I'm sure it said that the 4cylinder 2ltr engine didn't make much use of the twin turbos.

I have been told that the twin entry feature means that exhaust gas from cylinders firing at the same time is sent down two seperate pipe in the manifold through to oposite sides of the 'fan' (one hits the 'fan' 180 deg round from the other) in the exhaust side of the turbo. This creates a smoother increase in boost, and removes the RS turbo all or nothing synario.

smooth increase in boost ?? .... lol... where??

In my car it's like a switch. Boost on... boost off. Can be quite scary and dangerous if blatting round corners. Good fun though.

I would defo say it's not what you would call a smooth increase in boost. The Supra TT feels more sorta smooth. The Mr2 ..... bang... boost on.... pinned back to your seat... and away you go... :)

If I was looking for another '2 I would be looking to drive a hard bargain for the latest tubby I could find with as many extras as possible, I think its harder to get that kind of bargain if you're looking at importing as you would probably be asking the dealer to get the best he could and he would therefore try and squeeze as much dough out of you as possible, just keep hunting around, I'm sure theres plenty of bargains to be had if you look hard enough, and dont part-ex your motor either, cash is still king, get it sold, then let the cash do the talking

I got mine from Yuri Autos in Croydon, got to say they were brilliant, price was a little higher than I wanted, but the mileage was low and the car is immaculate. I doubt they would do PX though.. They have a really really nice Rev3 with 20000 miles, was spotless, ignore the price too as they dropped £1k off mine in an instant. ( mine was the black one with 20500miles.

Cheers and good hunting !!!!!

Skeete.

Remember, none are actually twin turbos! Only know of 1 conversion that has been done. The rest are Twin entry turbos!

Twin Entry - The updated design of the CT26 consists of a stronger 6 stud pattern which prevents the nuts from backing off. The Twin Entry name leads to the fact that the inlet to the turbine now has 2 ports. 2 of the cylinders are dedicated to each port, in a specific pattern. What this does is give the turbine the exhaust energy in a way that would not allow the gases to hit each other. The wastegate even has 2 ports which lets the gas out still in a smoother pattern. This design offers faster spoolup, higher max HP capability, and prevents cracking.
