Battery is fine, as my stereo runs fine off it. Fuel filter is recentish.... wouldn't imagine it was the spark plugs :/

I will try doing this Nicola, I just assumed that it would fire pretty much straight away, seeing as it's fuel injection and automatic choke.

As Nicola said Con

It's very rare it doesn't start up first time.

Plugs, leads, dizzy, rotor, fuel filter, air filter less than 6 months old

Yeah, it starts first time alright, I just thought it was a bit odd that it needs to be turned over for so long,, I thought that lump would fire up straight away, but then I don't know the characteristics of the engine at all yet.

Mine used to fire up instantly, which I was suprised about, considering it was 17 years old.

I'd say your coil may be on it's way out, or possibly 1 or more of the leads.

When were the leads last changed?? All 5 of them that is.

make sure your not hitting the accel when getting in the car, just lean in a turn the key. i've done this a few times and wondered why it just turned over 6 or 7 times D'oh.
