Corolla G6r

Hi,

Im looking at buying a Corolla G6R later in the year, but i've not actually seen inside one yet, nor have i seen one in 'real' life.

The only thing i've seen are external pictures on the net and small ones at that.

Firstly has anyone got/know where I can see some photos of the interior?

and secondly to anyone who owns one, What are they like to drive?

Welcome to TOC mate!

The G6R is a nice car, quite limited though. (Only about 420 in country)

There are a few owners of them on the site, hopefully some will be along soon to show you some pics.

I drive the facelifted SR which could be compared to the G6R, both have 6 speed boxes and both sporty, but 1.6 engines are different.

Dash is almost the same, just the trim is a little different.

Really nice cars to drive!

Hopefully one of the lads will be along soon though!

I like the look of your car, I'd like the black G6R myself, really like the model of Corolla, I really liked watching the Corolla WRC on tv a couple of years back.

Ideally i'd like a T-Sport, but Insurance companies wont come anywhere near me! For my own safety i suppose.

Yeah I would love a T-Sport or the new T-Sport Compressor when it comes out next year, but in same boat for insurance! lol

The G6R is a nippy little car though, got lots of extras and is also very different.

I really like the red ones (only available in red or black)

The shape of the ae111 is really nice!

Those alloys really make the car look awesome!

Thats the first thing im gonna do to mine.

Are there any easy things that you can do to the engine to get a bit more power other than induction kits??

Look nice against the red.

They arent the easiest things to get bits for, I dont think. As I said, the engine changed during the facelift, I cant even get an ainduction kit for mine! :(

There is a bit more available for the G6R though!!

A couple of guys have transplanted 1.6 supercharged engines into their cars and are sitting around 165 - 190 bhp I think (sorry if a wee bit out lads)

Plenty to look into anyway mate! Its a good choice of car, has plenty of extras and goes well. (and I dont even work for Toyota!) lol

Get one!! there great medium size cars and well specced for the cash and deff look better in red! i would be happy to put up some photos of the interior but there are two problems 1. is that my digi cameras knackered again and 2. the interior could really do with a clear out it currently resembles a bomb site. and anyway the next photos to be taken will be of the exterior with the TTE spoiler fitted (getting quotes for spraying today) as far as getting more power is concerned im gonna ask about that pretty soon on here.. :D

oh if you do get one make sure its red!!

G6R has alloyish inlaid gear knob & black leatherish gaiter with red stiching. update on the spoiler £45 sprayed and fitted sameday service!

Thanks for all the replies and photos, im liking the interior,

G6AArgh seeing your red one with those alloys is really making me consider a red one, there seems to be more red ones for sale anyways.

One more thing, what insurance company do you guys use?

trying to get an idea of whose gonna be cheapest, i'm 19, but will be 20 when i've bought 1, been looking and Sainsburys have been cheapest so far, still £1700 tho!!!!!

Cant really comment on insurance cos mines expensive due to a previous speeding ban whoever i go to, but currently i pay 750 fully comp all mods declared but i am 27 with 4yrs NCB.

According to parkers all the 1.6 ae111's, G6,G6R, SR etc are all the same power is this true? i know that the G6 models hav 6speed gearbox but surely the G6r being the range topper should have more power?

Nope

g6 is 1.3 89bhp 6 speed

Sr is 109bhp 5 speed

G6r is 109bhp 6 speed

The G6-R has an aluminium hood , original strutbrace , ABS, 15 inch alloy,s standard with 19-55-15 tyres , Red safetybelts , a bigger frontspoiler , foghlights

powersteering , electric windows , central locking on the 2 doors

and stiffer shocks ( when you lower the car with TTE lowering springs its damned stiff i had lowered my G6-R you can look at my site )

And they are really nice cars, especially when you drop them coz they handle like go karts, rides a bit harsh for most people but i dont mind it, at least i know the cars planted to the ground!!!

I so glad some of you boys have come around to the love of red G6R's :D

I have never seen another red in the flesh other than mine. Ive seen Pete's and Firthy's black ones.

So go for it my friend and fly the red flag

In terms of power, yes the same bhp's but with the 6 speed you have a bit more range through the revs

I'm just after buying a 00 1.6 G6 and its red. As far as I can see its basically the same as the G6R. It has the front spoiler, Strut brace and discs on the back. The interior is the same too. I'm really happy with mine already and only have it two weeks. Its alot faster than my old 1.3 corolla. Really glad I got it and would highly recomend them to anyone.
