Finally Got My Celica!

Hi,

I picked up my '87 Celica Gti-16 today. A day late, but they did some extra work for the MOT so thats good I guess :)

Anyway..at the weekend I'm hoping to (with a friend's help) change the oil, and fit a new oil filter.

Does anyone have any info on doing this? Any websites with directions/diagrams for this procedure, like.. for example, where IS the oil filter in this car, what oil do people recommend for this car?

Also.. I live in Windsor (UK).. does anyone know of anywhere around here who they would recommend to change the cam belt? The car is on 56,000 miles, I'm assuming it needs a cam belt around now...I'd obviously like somewhere that does it for a good price though :)

One last thing.. someone already told me it takes unleaded.. but just to be absolutely certain, is this right? I don't wanna crap it all up tomorrow morning when I fill up before going to work heh

Thanks,

Daniel

I would assume it takes unleaded but I'm not sure, someone will confirm this soon.

Wrt the oil filter. Make sure you use a genuine Toyota one. I believe they have valves in them to stop the oil draining out when the engine is off which after market ones do not.

It definately takes unleaded. All Japanese cars from the year dot take unleaded with no problems whatsoever. In fact you`ll do it more harm than good sticking LRP in it.:thumbsup:

Sorry didn`t make that bit very clear. Should`ve read Japanese manufactured cars. :D Jap m/cycles were designed to run on unleaded in the early 70`s and i think i`m right in saying that their cars followed very shortly thereafter.if not at the same time. It was done primarily to satisfy the federal requirements of the US market so they could flood the US with Datsun violets and Toyota Corollas.
