Boost Pressure

I had my car dyno tested the other day see picture

powercurve.jpg

The boost gauge only jumps to the midway point and then really struggles to go up, is this normal or does it sound like I have a leaky pipe somewhere ? The turbo has only covered 21500 miles so I doubt its a faulty turbo as there is no smoke and its like a rocket when the boost first kicks in.

Could it be a faulty actuator either ?

Any ideas are welcomed...

Thanks

Skeete.

Didnt the guys that did the dyno have any suggestions for you ?

To be honest I felt they didnt really want me to be there, I wouldnt recommend them.. they only did one run and I was out, but thankfully it was very cheap at £30. I only really went there to get a baseline run to see what I am running at.

sounds like the actuator .. get a g'valve on it and get it up to 1 bar ..

don't use the stock guage to register boost .. it's VERY pap.

OK, I will take your advice and get a different boost gauge.

I started this in another thread somewhere about gauges, but my thoughts were to have one stereo and fit the dials beneath the stereo in the spare DIN slot.

What size dials would I need for this ?

Out of interest as well, what is the size of the stock gauge in the dash, it would be really sweet if I could strip the stock one out and fabricate a mount for an aftermarket one..

Cheers.

Nice one bibbs.

Which gauge do you have though, as I want to stay with the factory look as much as possible, looked through the omori website and I dont know which one would fit..

I have the same omori gauge that bibbs has. Lights up all green at night... fancy.

They are ruddy expensive tho.

sounds like a very soft actuator.. could also be hose leakage issues.

I have checked all of the hoses and some of the screw clips were a little loose, almost finger loose... It seems to be running much better now and goes above the top of the boost gauge, so it was probably just that.

I love that dial Kiwi, although your link does not work on how to install :(

That's what my dash looks like .. (but in reverse order - looks like a US dash).

Skeete - pop over one day and have a look .. ;)
