Technically it's not a Toyota but a Xiali. Xiali is the trade name of Tianjin Auto Works (owned by FAW now, who also build Volkswagens in China). They've been building Daihatsu's in license since the mid-eighties building completely local made versions of the Daihatsu Charade. They opened a new assembly line in mid 2000 where they first built their licensed version of the Toyota Platz (the sedan version of the Yaris) called the Xiali TJ7136, late 2002 they also started to produce the Xiali Vizi (Yaris). With the model change to the phase2 the TJ7136 changed name to the Xiali Vela.

The production line is equally owned by both Toyota and Xiali.

They prolly get to choose their colors independently from Toyota, next to the Yellow one Danny posted they also have a very nice Metallic Purple and a gourgeous lush Deep Pink one! Why didn't we get that one here?!? :(

Here ends my bit of random info :)

No you're not!!! :ffs: That was my idea. I simply love that car. *dreams of his TS in Cherry Blossom Red * ;)

As a side note, i wanted my TS in white, that was a stock colour option here in Belgium but they couldn't get me one without aircon nor sunroof like I wanted for something like 23 weeks :o . So I settled for a Thunder Grey one.

Thanks for the compliments btw. :)

The aircon because, to me, it's only extra weight and takes power away from where i want it: the wheels. Never been really bothered about it being too hot or too cold in my cars.

The sunroof for the body rigidity, even though in modern cars that's not really too much of an issue anymore.

If they had done the TS without power windows and the like (and in Cherry Blossom Red :P ), I would have gotten that one.

A sort of "T-Sport RS" you mean?

Now THAT would be interesting... The equipment level of a T2 or T3 and the engine, suspension, body and seats from a T-Sport.

Surely there'd be a market for that?

Ah i see .. a performance conscious decision then. And a good one if you dont really need the extras aswell!:thumbsup:
