Hot Starting Problem

I have a 2000 3 litre diesel Hilux, non turbo, not "commonrail" an import from Asia. Its been perfect up until now but has developed a hot starting problem.

It starts perfectly from cold, but when hot the starter cant turn the engine more than half a crank, like the Battery is dead. Leave the car a while until the engine is cools and it starts perfectly.

Any thoughts anyone?

It could be a problem with the starter motor contacts, look at this article.
