Mk Iii Engine Loom

Can anyone help with engine wiring looms?

I've a 1992 MkIII manual turbo Supra. Engine was knackered, but found a replacement in good nick. But the Big But - the replacement is from a 1989 motor, and the engine's wiring loom doesn't match wiring in the 1992 body.

Engine's installed and runs OK after hardwiring engine loom to under-dash wiring. But clearly the colour coding isn't the same. Local Toyota dealer confirms wiring harnesses changed part number in August 1990.

ABS now defunct. No reversing lights. Also three flying sockets on engine loom in engine bay have nowhere to go.

Has anyone got info on the wiring colour coding for comparing pre-1990 and post-1990 wiring looms to help us out of this mess?!!

Ta

Trevor

What you could have done was put the earlier loom on the later engine, making sure that everything matches, or got the same year engines (should have asked here first ;))

If you want a early spec ECU to mathc the year of your engine just ask me, as I have an early one, and since have got a later car, so if it helps you out I don;t mind swapping!

At a guess i would say they are for the auto box, especially if they are all together near the starter motor.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately original wiring harness was taken by vendor of engine, who had the old one back in part-ex. Do I really need a different ECU? Engine is running OK. Just the peripherals are out of order. The ABS is the biggest prob. Vendor of engine reckons the ABS chips are likely to be knackered by the garage who fitted the engine chopping the loom and coupling up like-coloured wires.

Thanks for the very logical tip about the auto box connectors.
