Mr2 Turbo Rev 1 - Boost Problems?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hello !!!!

I have a Rev1 Turbo which has a FCD and DAWES Device fitted.

Decided car was running a little too high boost at 1.3 bar (this correct yes??), so turned this down and also tightened the dump valve a little.

since doing this, I have noticed that the boost does not hold - it jumps very fast up to about 0.8bar in 1st and 2nd, then drops off very, very fast to about 0.4bar however 3rd and 4th etc holds a little better, but the drop off is still massive.

Prior to this, the boost would hold well, right through the gears and only drop off about 0.1bar at the most....

Am fed up with the lack of power - driving me mad.

Any ideas??? - I tried turning up the boost again with the dawes device and slack off the dump valve, but it amde no difference - although the boost guage reads about 1.1bar+, the car feels really slow - no sudden push of power like before, pushing you back into seat...

HELP - thanks :-)

it probably will feel slower if you were running 1.3 bar. Thats quite alot of boost. Most people seam to run 1.0 - 1.2 MAX on a rev1.

Boost will tail off at higher revs on a stock turbo. My Stock ct26 used to tail of after 5k like 0.25 - 0.3 of a bar. I though it might be my actuator, which i replaced with an uprated one, and it did resolve some of the boost loss.

But the ct26 just cant keep that level of boost at revs that high, it just aint gonna happen - the compressor aint big enough.

I have just fitted a stg 1 turbo and it hold boost all the way to the red line, may be 0.05 of a bar loss !!

Try a new / uprated actuator - but be carefull how high you boost !! you can get det !!
