Too Much Oil?

I feel like a right ****** now!

I put 2 litres of oil in the car at the weekend, was topping it up today, and put in 4 litres. I was expecting it to fill to the top

Can this do any damage? How can I remove some? where is the oil drain plug located? I know its underneath, but where?

thanks, I feel really stupid, wasn't thinking at all!

Cheers,

Michael.

Yeah, I agree with Sera Beetle.

Running too much oil is as bad if not worse than running less !! - your oil pressure will probably be really high, and you can blow your oils seals on your pistons and all sorts.

I dunno how much oil should be in a 2. When i did my Oil and filter I just kept toping it up, then checking the dip stick till its a few mill from max !

But defo dont drive it over filled !!

Too much oil will at best, blow all the oil seals, at worst pass the piston rings, hydraulic the cylinders an blow the head through the engine cover, or even better, snap a con rod/crankshaft, then maybe leave you enough bits to put in a bucket.

Drain it from the sump plug. I think it should hold 4.5 litres of oil

Just under 4 litres (and that's if replacing the filter too).
