My New Diesel

Just thought I'd share a few thoughts on the new car.

The diesel T Spirit replaced a petrol 2.0 T Spirit that had done around 20k in two years. These days I don't swap as quickly as that as a rule but there were a few issues with the old car that I mentioned in other threads - engine misfire, road noise, ride comfort and a few others.

You might know from other threads that I was disabled in a car accident so we need good access and soft seating and a cruise control is fantastic - I like the 3TX but that's why I shelled out for the TSpirit.

I've driven diesels but never owned one before so this is new to me but so far all is great. Starts first time, warms up reasonably fast, runs smoothly and uses less fuel. Performance I can't compare yet - this has only done about 300 miles but it seems pretty good. Certainly more torquey than the petrol. By this time in the old car I'd found some of the faults so this is a big improvement.

Road noise and ride comfort were fixed by doing a deal with the dealer to replace the 17" wheels and low profiles with standard 3TX 16" ones. Believe me - there is a tremendous difference. Unless you intend to take the VVti ear'oling round the bends on the red line I'd recommend anyone to ditch those 17" wheels and tyres because although they might look great it isn't really that kind of motor anyway is it?

Now if I can just get the iPod sorted to play through the head unit I'll be truly happy! :)
