My New Celica Rocks But......

Hi all I have been enjoying my new 53 plate Celica (standard with spoiler) immensely!! Who ever said that money does not buy happiness should go and buy one! how ever I did have a sneaking suspicion when I bought it that I should stop being a tight wad and opt for the t-sport. Of course a sensible friend said that I would be better off playing it safe.

So is there anything that anyone would suggest to make it a little quicker? or being that its still under warrantee am I better off sticking with it for a few more miles then upgrading?

Also is there anything that I should watch out for with my car ??

I am afraid their isn't anything you can do that will give you significant gains unless you want to go down the S/C route and spend some serious money. Your best bet would have been the T-Sport if you wanted speed. Sorry.

Like CraigR said if you check out the forums on celica-club.co.uk you may get some ideas. Keep an eye on your hubs would be my only comment. The hubs have a tendancy to go rusty quite quickly but these can be changed under warranty although you can easily see to these with a wire brush and some hammerite.

Hope that helps :D

First of all, WELCOME TO TOC and WELCOME to CELICA ownership. They are great cars aint they

So you have a 140 bhp Celica and unfortunately there isn't much short of a turbo or supercharger that will make it soooooo much quicker.

Of course minor changes like a Superior exhaust system such as the TRD one and a decent induction system can help with a few horses but ultimately will only add max of 20 horses if that.......

So are we gonna be seeing you at any meets this year showing the car off ?

I have a 140 and find it quick enough - it's the nimble handling that rocks!

Definate issue with me was the t-sport only comes with leather/sunroof. Sunroof = no headroom, and I'm not that keen on celica leather.

Personally I'd only consider a brand new T-sport to avoid getting one thats been thrashed (lift bolt issues etc...)

jodyfrost20@hotmail.com the cheapest and best mods are free ones. Thus take out your spare wheel, back seats, passanger seat, rear plastics, jack, floor mats etc and you will find your 140 will be alot faster. The intake and exhuast are a good starting point to make the engine breath easier.

I know taking out the spare wheel will lighten the car, but removing the intake and exhaust to reduce weight! ;) :!Removed!:

I think the 140 can be chipped to give it another 20hp or so, and thats about the best you can get without spending silly money.
