Hi all,

Just bought a 1990 GT-4 , great car! i was wondering what bad points i should be lookin for ?

The gear stick feels very 'loose' when you change gear and there seems to be a lot of play ( you can wiggle it a fair bit when in gear )

Everythin inside works tho ! i dont have a manual, and i dont really know if the air con is not workin or im not switchin it on right, how is it supposed to work?

I have quite a lot of the service history so im hoping it was a good buy! if there are any common hidden problems please post them!!!!

thanks

p.s whats the best fuel? optimax?or normal unleaded?

Welcome to TOC.:thumbsup: Fine choice of car. Gen 5 GT4 simply the best. Good site for info is GT4OC

But to answer your questions. The sloppy gear stick is probably down to the cable bushes either on the gearbox or at the gear lever end. Quite a common problem. Easily fixed.

Air con might need regassing. Bit of a bugger cos your GT4 and mine for that matter have to be upgraded to take the new R12 refrigerant. The old R11 is no longer obtainable. Legally anyway. Cost of this can vary but be looking to pay around 140 squids. Or rip it all out and save 25kgs of weight.:thumbsup:

A/C function is simplicity itself. button by the rotary heat control will have two leds on it. 1 for A/C 1 for ECON.

Both LEDs off air con is OFF

A/C led on A/C on... Adjust temp via heat control.

ECON led lit A/C works at reduced capacity.

Hope this helps a bit.:thumbsup:

and as for fuel, if it's a jap import then it has to run on optimax or super unleaded but if it's a UK then anything will do.

congrats on the new car :D
