Hi everyone,

I own a 1994 paseo, and just today, I removed the original steering wheel which was darn !Removed! hard to remove after removing the nut in the middle... i mean basically the steering wheel can't even budge with the nut removed, but after some shoving here and there, the wheel just came off...

So, i happily fixed my boss kit and steering wheel.. only to find the alignment with the wheels abit off... Worst of all.. i can't remove the boss kit now!!!

I tried wriggling it, spraying WD40, pulling it with all my might, but the darn boss kit won't budge. Anyone has any idea how to remove this? I'm pretty irritated by the alignment of the steering wheel... its like the wheels are straight at 5 o'clock. Which should had been 6 o'clock.

Help~~~!!

If it won't respond to brute force, use a puller. You should be able to rent one from a local tool hire place or friendly garage. This applies force in a controlled manner.

i know what you mean andrew, but do these aftermarket boss kits have the facility for a puller?

i was under the impression that they didnt.

The puller central spigot will act on the steering column.

The fingers of the puller will act on the sides of the boss

Then you just wind the boss off the spline of the steering column.

Alternative methods is to pull whilst someone gently taps the centre of the spline with a hammer to 'shock' it off

Put the nut on to stop it coming off uncontrollably.

Thanx guys for the great help. I'll see if i can bot one of those pullers from my mechanic. If not, i'll try the have a friend knock while i pull method.

Oh by the way, anyone has any idea where i can find EL Dials (in Km/H not MPH) for my paseo? Its pretty uncommon here in australia and some guy (in the EL Dial business) over in sydney wants to sell me a set of these EL Dials for AU$250 which works out to roughly GBP$103

Like Andrew said though, MAKE SURE TO PUT THE CENTRE NUT ON THE SHAFT BEFORE YOU TAKE THE WHEEL OFF. Don't put it on right the way down, but just a few turns onto the thread. When the wheel comes off it'll hit the nut and stop.

Without the nut in place it'll fly straight into your face. Better not to learn this one the hard way ;)

That doesn't sound too expensive to me mate. The only other one that i could suggest trying would be sourcing a set from USA. When I was looking a while back, they had a set with MPH and KMH. If no luck, get those others that are in Oz already! :P

Well, i guess this is an expensive hobby ain't it? hehe... i did consider getting the EL Dials from USA but on closer inspection, i realised that the fuel and temp gauges were on different sides. So it won't not fit anyway.

Right now, i have another problem. Bought a basic amplifier and a Sony xplod subwoofer... I have a basic pioneer deck. Tried to wire everything up but the amp just won't power on. Funny, tried it on a friend's car who has the same deck as me, and everything worked normally.

Tested everything but still could not locate da problem. Tried connecting the Remote socket of my amp to a 12v source but still no power on the amp. Freaky... Anyone had such an experience before?
