I just purchased a 1992 cynos B (paseo) (Pretty cool car)

Firstly i was wondering if these are twin cam or single cam.

And I was told by someone that most of the GT starlet engine will bolt straight onto the paseo.

So I want to add a Starlet turbo, exhaust manifold ect. If i can bolt on the turbo, piping and manifolds - will i need to do any other changes, for example lower pressure pistons? ( I know i will have to change the computer)

Thanks

Bradley

You can stick in a Glanza V lump if i'm not mistaken. Was looking into this myself at one point as well

i think the 'seo is a DOHC, and yes, the starlet motor will bolt right up, which is probably better than trying to bolt the turbo onto the 5e. to get any sort of boost out of it, you're going to have to do some big internal work like forging pistons, rods, etc. Also, it's probably a good idea to port the head to allow for more air to combust if you're REALLY serious. Beware though, the 5e wasn't meant to be a turbo'd engine, and there's a reason why toyota stopped making turbo motors. It decreases reliability. The paseo/cynos might be a quick car with a turbo, but it'll never be fast (at least by my standards). good luck, and if you need any more help, don't be afraid to ask.

Its a twin cam engine

You can turbo the Paseo, its most sensible to fit low compression pistons to reduce the risk of expensive problems later.

However, easiest and most reliabile is the Starlet Turbo / Glanza engine swap. The wiring is a bit tricky, but you don't have to swap pistons over which starts getting time consuming.

in your case it would be wiser to fit a ep91 glanza V engine.

Its a ready made bolt on kinda thing...

out goes the lump you have now , sell it or something , and stick in the mighty 4efte!

After that you can do silly things that give more power ; intercooler (front mount , air filter , samco hoses and intercooler piping all the way through the engine's induction route , exaust , change pistons with something stronger to finally add.... a boost controller :D)

Just a few ideas you can get up to....

If your a bit off your edge with turbo , then i would suggest a wonderful 4ag 20 valve vvti 6 speed box setup from a levin , will need engine mount mod though.

Up to you.

I know what you mean by it being a lump, i get owned by anything i race. With the starlet transfer, do i do a whole engine switch, or just turbo, exhaust manifold ect.

thanks

whole engine, but it won't come with an exhaust, you'll have to do that yourself.

whole engine.

exhaust - need first section of Starlet exhaust, mated to the rest of the Paseo system.

ill sell you the whole engine for 600 CYP.

i'll give you 17USD for it

im talkign with transmission / ecu / engine / turbo / manifolds / etc... a complete setup , shipping shouldnt be more than 300 quid , that gives you a full fresh engine under a grand and change from a grand to use for fitting expenses.
