I'm about 2 get a personalised registration 4 my car & I'm a bit unsure about a few things:

1st, I'm not sure how 2 register it with the dvla so I've sent off 4 a V317 (registration transfer application form), I'd imagine that would contain all the info I'd need wudnt it?

2nd, I wanna get a nice fancy plate, where can I get 1 (inc fancy writin & a pic & that)? I've seen a link on eBay which basically says "design 1 exactly the way u like it & we'll make it 4 u" 4 around £25 inc p&P, this sound good? Also, wot r the police like with things like this? I kno theres only 1 legal font, but do they do anythin if u get a fancy design?

Oh yeah, 1 last thing, I'm taxed till November, if I get a new registration, will I b able 2 transfer the tax on2 this new plate or will I have 2 pay 4 another year & get money back 4 the rest of the year on the plate I've got now or wot?

Sorry 4 goin on, but I'm gettin it soon & wanna kno all I need so I can get on with sortin things out, ne info wud b appreciated, thanks.

Right....

Firstly buy the plate, either from DVLD, or NewReg.com or Regtransfers.com then a week or so later you will recieve a pack in the post.

Included are the forms so you can transfer the registration to your car, you also need to send off a copy of your TAX Disc, as this would have the old car reg on it.

As for fancy plates, many places to choose from. I got mine done in a domed carbon fibre effect from http://www.gtgrafix.com/

Hope that helps.

When you buy the plate the price you see doesn't include VAT or the £80 tranfer fee or the plates.

Mine was £245... plus VAT... plus £80... plus about £40 for the plates. But its all worth it in the end.

Hope that helps.

I'm actually gettin it off my dad, I'll spare the details but basically he's gettin another 1 put on & lettin me have his current 1, I'm just unsure how I tell the DVLA but it'll probably b in the Application Form. The website I found on eBay is http://www.4plates.co.uk/. My m8 told me about gtgrafix ages ago & got another 1 off them 4 his new car not so long ago but I like the sound of designin my own coz then I'll get exactly wot I want.

Once I have bought a personalised registration mark, do I have to put it straight onto a vehicle?

No. You have until the expiry date shown on your V750 to put the mark onto a vehicle.

Where is my nearest DVLA Local Office?

Click here to find your nearest DVLA local office.

What do I need to do when I am ready to put my personalised registration mark onto my vehicle?

You will need to apply to your local DVLA office. You can apply by post or in person although during busy times you may have to collect your documentation later (please contact your local office first). The reverse of your certificate will describe the documents you will need to accompany your application. Please note that the purchaser of the registration mark will need to sign section 4 of the V750.

DVLA FAQ (click)

Also remember that fancy fonts, etc. may not necessarily get you pulled by the poilce but are something else to have a go at you for if you are stopped. Insurance would be a problem too if using illegal style plates.

I'd be happy with standard set up if I could afford something like this I found on the DVLA site... AL05 ALJ

A mere snip at 999 quid!

If your just transfering it to another car, pop into a DVLA Office and pickup the transfer forms.

I got mine cheap, and its only got one number in it! It was only £250 like I said earlier, think they noticed now as they are all more expensive!
