hi everyone,

i was thinking of a decat pipe for my 1997 celica GT (uk spec).

can anyone tell me where to buy one.

also, has anyone any opinions on how good they are.

do they improve mpg by much?

remember you will need your cat reinstalling for the mot.

you will use 'more fuel' , it will increase throttle response and the exhaust will be throatier, other than that it's just cool i guess.

and you may be able to get away with rolling road tuning to bring your emissions down to acceptable limits. the timing may need adjusting slightly to prevent knock and you may need better plugs as the stock ones may get fried quickly.

thanks for the info.

i have irridium plugs in at the moment so that shouldn't be a problem.

can the timing be adjusted if i do get this knock?

Hi m8 i got mines from www.tuneacar.co.uk just look under exhausts and its in the tac exhaust section , if you have a uk car remember and tell them not to make it with the bit for the cat temp sensor as its only jap imports that have them.

You will love it m8 , it gives a huge improvment in low down tourge , you will only use more fuel because you will be putting the foot down more :D but in everyday driving you wont notice any drop in mpg infact you might find it improves a bit.

Coupled with a K&N induction kit its well worth the pennys m8 :D

thanks for the help guys.

my car is generally poor at low revs and i find that if i go on a long drive, i.e. more than 25 miles or so the exhaust system heats up like mad and i lose lots of power. i'm hoping the de-cat will help this a bit.

has anyone any suggestions on why i lose power on a long journey? does anyone else's exhaust heat up excessively, esp at the manifold?

i have tried:

new fuel filter

new ignition coil

new rotor arm

replacement back box

high perf plugs

induction kit

engine diagnosis - no fault codes found

just had my car decatted , its a 95 st203 import, had a 5" jap style back box and also induction kit, the decat makes mine sound very loud on acceleration and has a really loud snapy sound at between 2-3000 revs which m not so fussed on but when putting the foot down she sounds like no other.

a hot exhaust wont cause loss of power m8 , sounds like you suffering heat soak at the intake end , have you got an induction kit fitted?? if so do you have a cold air feed to it ?? if not then all the filter is doing is taking in hot air which will robb a fair bit of power

i have a twin exit decat by powerflow stainless steel lifetime gauruntee 5" ovals you will definately enjoy the sound!!!and obviously a cat decreases exhaust gas flow so it stands to reason that a decat increases power output.

there are three main reasons to fit a stainless steel system 1-looks and sounds awesome 2-cost my system has a lifetime garuntee would kwikfit give u that for £260 3-performance increase!!!

concerning the mot and cat the answer is simple put the cat back for the mot and take it off after-
