Hi, i desperately need some info on changing/replacing shock absorber on my Celica gt4 1992 model, got the part and my mate is fitting it, but he hasnt much experience on celicas,! :(

I cant download these manuals online, its saying cannot find server!

Its a nice easy job matey.

jack the car up and support on axle stands under the body. Not under any part of the suspension.

Remove the road wheel.

Undo the two bolts that secure the strut to the hub carrier.

Undo the antiroll bar link arm. May require brute force and mole grips to assist with this one.

Undo the top strut mounts (3of) located under the rearmost speaker cover.

Strut should now be free to come out.

Re-assembly is a reversal of the above.

Jobs a good un.

I've got a set of PDFs of the factory manuals which *I think* cover everything from 86-present. They're not terribly well organised, but if someone wants to host them, then they can be shared around. The zip file is 13mb and the unzipped files are 40ish.

Can you check if they also cover ST202 Euro or Jap spec with 2.0 litre engine? I have been looking for a manual for that one for some time now but all the manuals I have seen this far only have 2.2 litre US spec engine.

As I say, I think they're comprehensive, but they're not manuals, rather pdfs of workshop/factory notes. I've only been through the Gen4 stuff (which is 30+ PDFs), and that covers all the US and Jap engines.

edited to add - just realised that the files are much bigger than I thought - I was just looking at the ST165 section. There's a zip file for EACH model which is c.20Mb, but the PDFs within do seem to cover all the various international versions...
