Hi

I have a Toyota Starlet 1,3 (4efe, engine) from 1996. I would like build in a Toyota Starlet 1,3 Turbo engine into my car, (4efte engine).

There does my problem start. I live in Denmark, and here its ilegal to equip none turbo cars with a turbo. Building a 4efte engine into my car is easy, but its not allowed, beacuse I need papers from Toyota, Type approval papers or TÜV papers, that the car can handle the power, my 4efe engine has 75bhp or 88bhp, and a 4efte has 135bhp. And I know that you can buy or import a Starlet Turbo legaly in the UK.

So, is it posible that one of you in the UK, can get me some type approval papers, that it is legal to build the 4efte into my car.

Or is there somebody that has some any papers from a Starlet Turbo import?

Please help me

You can contact me on this mail:

PS. I really would like to build me Starlet Turbo, so please help me :crybaby:

The 4E-FTE engine was not sold in any European cars, so there isn't any type approval papers.

The car can be imported to the UK because our import regulations are not as tough as some countries, but this is getting harder and harder to do.

Maybe some of the Dutch Starlet owners can help - they have fitted the 4E-FTE to some of their Starlets.

OK.

Can I then use the papers from the Glanza?

Or can I use the import papers, from those that have importet a Starlet Turbo into the UK? I think that those papers would be pretty helpfull to...

Thanks again for the reply...

The papers you get when you import a car is just the shipping documents, the Japanaese registration certificate and a translation of it. The certificates are normally retained by the Department of transport when you register the car.

The Glanza was never sold in the UK officially either.

what you can do is get into touch with an official toyota dealer in your country , kindly asking them to approve your car and get an official document from toyota that in few words says "this car , has this engine , and it is fine with suspension/braking/engine/etc.."

Take that document with you when you will register the engine on the car. You shouldnt have any problems. At least ive done this in cyprus.

thanks for the help...

I have asked Toyota Denmark to help me, but they say, that they can´t. Why, I don´t know?

So, there is nothing I can do, is it?
